The Houghton Surname Project website now includes 80,000 descendants of Ralph and John Houghton of Lancaster, MA and John Houghton of Stony Brook, NJ, and all Houghton/Haughton surname individuals prior to 1930 who lived in or emigrated to the United States. Variants include Haughton, Hotton, Hotten, Hoten, Hoton, Howton, etc. I am also coordinating the Houghton/Haughton DNA Project. Please consider contributing your Houghton/Haughton descendancy data to the project. You will be cited as the contributor of any new data.     3. I'd be most happy to share my Houghtons. The Reuben Jepson Farm Yard Cemetery can be found on the Pownal Historical Society's (Assn's?) web site. The graves were: Benjamin Houghton Amy, his wife Sarah Houghton, a daughter. Lyman Houghton, a son Joseph Horton Harriet Horton Hiram Horton Minerva Seeley (Seeley's were neighbors). Benjamin's daughter, Betsy, married Thomas Jepson, and Reuben Jepson was of the same family Joseph Houghton appears in the 1790 census in Pownal. I believe he came from Leominster, MA, and was married to Martha Snow. Martha Houghton is in the 1800 census. Benjamin was their youngest child, baptized in Leominster in 1785. Since we rediscovered the old cemetery, the Vermont old Cemeteries Assn have cleaned it up and repaired and replaced the broken stones. I have huge file folders about the Houghtons. My basic info comes from notes left by Betsy Houghton, Benjamin's daughter. I have macular degeneration. so even with wonderful CCTV Reader and magnifying software on my computer, it is hard for me to look things up.     3. I have found that sometimes this surnames are intermixed. So I am asking the members of this board about Oughton's from Co. Wexford and Clonmel in Ireland during the 1800's. John Richard Oughton b 1821 died 1888 Clonmel and his 11 children and a niece Margaret Oughton m Michael Jones their 4 children born Co. Wexford. I am descended from both of these and would love to get in touch with anyone from these families or all help appreciated. Della Palmer
