    3. To unsubscribe from a RootsWeb list you follow the same process as you did when you subscribed, only you will include the word UNSUBSCRIBE in the message body. Remember that you must send it to the correct mode of the list that you subscribed. To unsubscribe to a list, simply go to the index at http://lists.rootsweb.com/ and find the list you are subscribed to. You should be able to click on the list and an email box will pop up. You simply have to type UNSUBSCRIBE in the body of the email and send it. If you are using a public computer or cannot use the pop up box, then you can subscribe by sending an email message to the following address: To: Hough-L-REQUEST@rootsweb.com or To: Hough-D-REQUEST@rootsweb.com In most cases, the -L signifies list mode (you receive a copy of every message posted to the list as a single email) and the -D signifies digest mode (you receive groups of messages every day or so, depending on how busy the list is). In the body of the email message, type the word UNSUBSCRIBE alone on the first and only line. Make sure you do not include any other text, email address, or names. It is best to leave the subject line blank, but if you are required to use one, just put the word UNSUBSCRIBE there too. Please remember that you are sending this to a computer. It only understands commands. And the command must be spelled correctly. [comment] Rootsweb mailing lists are not spam. In order to receive mail from the list you had to send a subscribe message to the computer from your email account. Since you had to subscribe yourself to the list, you need to unsubscribe yourself from the list. This is true of most ListServ lists -- the list administrators will not perform these functions for you because too many new computer users end up reporting the list admins for spamming, it's just not worth the hassle. One list admin writes: (not directed at any individual but to all ListServ users) "if you can subscribe yourself to a list then you can unsubscribe yourself too" and "if you're not ready to learn how to sub/unsub a ListServ, you're not ready to participate in ListServ discussions". -----Original Message----- From: Lloyde Livingstone [mailto:geezer@webtv.net] Sent: Saturday, September 01, 2001 11:30 AM To: HOUGH-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [Hough] helping a subscriber Hi! Unfortunatly I dont know much else about his past. When I was growing up he lived in Bethel Park and owned a tavern called Hough's Inn. We lived next door and he and my Grandmother were wonderful people. If there seems to be any connection I would really enjoy hearing from you.

    3. Dear fellow researchers, I am new to this list and am researching a HOUGH family who were living in Salford U.K. between the mid 1840's and at least 1880. The family was Thomas HOUGH, his wife Ann and three sons that I know of, William b 1838; John b 1841; and Thomas b abt.1847. Thomas had been a barge man and later he is shown in a directory as a coal merchant. Recently, I have seen on a list of people searching the internet for HOUGH in Lancashire U.K.and an Australian e-mail address which, from the brief information given, looked to be someone doing the same family as me but when I tried to send an e.mail the address came back unknown. This is the address <tammyh@one.net.au> does that person subscribe to this list I wonder or can any other Australian member see what might be wrong with the address? I live in Rochdale U.K., which is about 10 miles from Salford and Manchester and I would be willing to do look -ups in my area for anyone on the list. Bye, Sheila (Rochdale U.K.)

Surnames: Hough, Huff, Payne/Paine Classification: Queries Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Jgj.2ACEB/553.556 Message Board Post: I assume you know that Jonathan or Jonah who married Pleasant Hague (married 30 Nov 1803) was the son of John Huff and Sarah Janney, Quakers in Loudoun Co. VA? This info is from the Fairfax Monthly and Goose Creek Meeting records and the book by Orville Hough. This John Huff was the grandson of Richard Hough of Bucks Co. PA. I don't have any other information on the children of Jonah and Pleasant Hough. Both sons are mentioned in the Quaker monthly meeting records. I am very interested in the these Houghs because I am trying to find the connection of the Loudoun Co. Houghs to my wife's ancestor, Benjamin Hough of Loudoun Co. VA and Belmont Co. OH. Benjamin was born abt 1780 and married Margaret Payne/Paine in 1806 in Loudoun Co. They migrated to Belmont Co. in 1816. Benjamin had a daughter named Pleasant Huff (they changed the spelling in Ohio). I wondered if there wasn't a family connection with your Jonah/Jonathan Hough and his wife, Pleasant Hague. Have you seen anything about this Benjamin Hough in your research? You can reply directly to my primary email address of rbloch2@home.com. Ron
