If this is something you are interested in let me know and I will send you all the names and dates that I have. I also have a Mary E. I'm looking for information on the siblings of an Ida Jane Sellers. Ida Jane Sellers was the daughter of George W. Sellers and Mary Hostetler. Ida Jane Sellers married David Austin Friedline sometime around 1880 - likely somewhere in or around Somerset County, PA. According to a notation I've had for years Ida Jane and/or her husband David Austin Friedline are mentioned in the book Descendants of Jacob Hostetler. I am interested in filling the lineage of Ida Jane as I believe one of her sisters was somehow related by marriage to Ida Jane's husband's mother (if that makes any sense at all!) Thanks for any assistance. --Karen Cooke (descendant of David Austin Friedline and his second wife - Ida Jane was his first wife).

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/4Bk.2ACIB/67.1 Message Board Post: Really interesting. My favorite is Henry Hostetler, born in Somerset Cty, PA, 10 different birthdates reported to me ranging from 1800 to 1811. History has it that he had a family, wife and 3 daughters, lived in present day Petersburg, VA. In 1854, his family tried to find him to disburse his share of the family fortune, but to no avail. In 1854, the name of this town was Lunice Creek, because when the town wanted their own Post Office in 1833, of course there were 2 Petersburgs in VA., therefore the name change. When WV became a state in 1860(?), the name was changed back to Petersburg. This may have contributed to confusion. I have researched this man over the years with no new info, so could you tell me more about your story? You could also check the Descendants of Jacob Hochstetler for your info.

Thanks for checking out my website for John's Little House, which contains John's will, as published in the book Descendants of Jacob Hochstetler. This John and Barbara are siblings as per this book, and this is the same John Hochstetler who married Catherine Hertzler. I am involved in rebuilding his retirement house (daudyhaus) at Spruce Forest Artisan Village, and hope you took the time to check out the other pages. I am interested in how you come from both John and Barbara, as I do also. I'm a descendent of both Barbara Hochstetler, who married Christian Stutzman, and John Hochstetler, who married Catherine Hertzler. From the work I've been doing lately, I've concluded that Barbara and John were the children of Jacob Hochstetler and Anna Barbara Lorenz. Can anyone confirm that this John and Barbara were indeed siblings? I've checked three different sources, and I'm pretty convinced that they were. If anyone is interested in how I came from both lines, I'd be glad to share.

Dear Listers, My name is Carol Hepburn and I have adopted this mail list and the GenConnect Hostleter Surname board. I want to welcome you all to this mail list and let you know that if you need assistance, you can always email me at my email address below. One of the things I would like to do with this list is generate a surname page that will give details on each members family origins. I have a website (I am moving it to freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com today) for my Hostetler tree and will add a page for this mail list. If you would all send me (directly), a short research synopsis (one to three paragraphs) outlining your research, I will post it online for others to see. Please include as much information as you can about where your Hostetler's came from and also include your name, email and postal address (if you want to get snail mail). I will put them in alphabetical order by first name on a webpage so that others can contact you if they think they may have a connection. If you have a family website, make sure you send that as well. Here is mine to start us off with: Jacob Hochstetler, circa 1704-1776 I have been researching this family name since 1995. My Hostetler family originally came from Switzerland and came to Berks, Pennsylvania in the 1700's. My direct line comes from Somerset County, Pennsylvania. My GGGgrandmother was Barbara Hostetler Baer. Jacob and his wife (unknown name - though some resources list her as a Miss Lorentz) had 6 children: John, Jacob, Joseph, Christian, Barbara, and an infant daughter. John Hochstetler married Catherine Hertzler and came to Somerset County in the very early 1770's. They had 10 children - their son Jacob married Barbara Miller (this is my line). Jacob and Barbara had four children: John, Jacob, Peter, and Catherine. I descend from both John and Catherine. My grandfather was a direct descendant of John and my grandmother was a direct descendant of Catherine (go figure!). Anyone related to this family is welcome to contact me. I would like to put together as many living branches on this tree as possible. -- Best wishes, Carol Hepburn chepburn@uswest.net Phoenix, AZ USA
