However Andrew's age is listed as 29 and Eliza's is 27. This sets their birth years, respectively, at 1841 and 1843. This is at odds with the ages listed for Andrew and Analias in the 1900 census. BTW, the name Gilbert Andrew (my g grandfather) had a daughter named Ida Mae (m. Sutter), apparently named after his sister. Drusilla married Jesse Franks a widower and neighbor of the Hostetlers. Andrew was the son of Samuel and Sarah Elizabeth(Betsey) Proctor Hostetler, Betsey's father was John Proctor, she was born in Ireland according to the 1900 census info from andrew and his brother George. Andrew's sister Elizabeth mar. Robert Norman she died in 1850 her children were sent to live among relatives and neighbors. Then their mother Betsey died in 1850 and her 3 remaining children living at home( Andrew, Mary J. and George) were sent to live with neighbors. In 1851 Andrew's brother William died he had 2 of his sisters Elizabeth's children and 1 daughter of his own. Elizabeth's children were sent again to different neighbors. in 1851 Elizabeth Norman's son Samuel while living with the Bartholomew Lilly family in German Twp. had his leg cut off in a Threashing machine on the farm, at age 12. This family had a really tou! gh time in such a short time span. Samuel and Betsey's children were; Elizabeth Hostetler mar. Robert Norman 5 children William Hostetler mar. Maria Norman 1 daughter Daniel Hostetler mar. Sarah Franks 6 children Andrew Hostetler mar. Just wanted to say "Hi" from MI to all the Hostetler's around the country. Jim & I will be celebrating our 60th on Oct 15th 2009. We have 7 children who all live in the mid-west with 5 living in MI, 1 in IN, and 1 in MN. Also 19 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren plus one due in Dec. Hi I don't think the Hostetler's you mentioned are related to my husband JAMES HOSTETLER'S family as I don't recognize any of the names. Jim's parents were MURL HOSTETLER & EDNA MISHLER from Freeport Mi and MURL HOSTETLER was a son of HARRY J HOSTETLER & MARY WEAVER who lived in Shipshewanna, Indiana. Harry died in 1953 and he was a son of JACOB C HOSTETLER & ELIZABETH BLOUGH. JACOB C HOSTETLER was a son of CHRISTIAN HOSTETLER & BARBARA KAUFFMAN. CHRISTIAN HOSTETLER was a son of JOSEPH HOCHSTETLER & MARY YODER. JOSEPH HOCHSTETLER was a son of JOSEPH HOCHSTETLER & ANNA BLANK. Currently the Internet is full of confusing information about them - people have gotten at least two different Jacobs all confused and combined into one and have one of Elizabeth's sister-in-law's dates as her's! I have located them in the 1810 Federal Census of Shelby County, Kentucky, the 1820 Federal Census of Lawrence County, Indiana, and the 1830 Federal Census of Vermillion County, Indiana - but cannot find them after that. Several of the websites and on-lines family trees give them living until the 1850's and 1860's, but I can't find them for whatever reason. I thought perhaps they were living with some of their children, but can't find them there either. I think he was born somewhere around 1785 in Pennsylvania and she was born about 1792 in Pennsylvania. I have fairly accurate and complete records on their children and further descendants. Any help, additions, corrections, and/or sources appreciated. My direct ancestor was Daniel Morgan Hostetler (Hostutler) of Wetzel County, WV, father of my grandmother. He was the son of Armstrong and Barbara Lemley Hostetler.
