Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) for seven years, arrived 1821 per "Lady Ridley". Convicted in VDL 1834, sentenced to transportation for Life. Removed to Norfolk Island. Becomes a mystery then. He may have moved again to NSW in 1843. Date & place of death not known. However, while he was in VDL, he married and had one daughter. Details follow: Jane DUNCOMBE born Hobart, Tas., 1815. Jane marries Thomas HORTON, Tas., 1830. Jane & Thomas have a daughter, Catherine HORTON, born Tas., 1835 (no other children known). Catherine HORTON, age 17, marries John GELL, age 20, at Sorrell, Tas., 1850. After 1850, no further events have yet been traced. It is not known where John or Catherine GELL ended up.
