Outen pub. 1989 A Press Printing Co., Greenville, SC William Horton and Nancy Horton are the parents of John Horton, Sr. William's origin may be found in Virginia in the same area that our Rochelle cousins were living. William was married twice. One of his wives was Nancy Horton. She was a Horton of the Charleston family. Nancy and William were not kin; but she was a cousin to Thomas Horton. (Thomas Horton owned Gatesford Plantation and lived at Charleston, SC.) Nancy's family line was kin to several prominent South Carolina families and families of Barbados. (page 1)
