    2. Pat - before I get to a reply to the goodies you sent, I want to thank for not skipping off to other foreign lands and leavin me here wondering how this all comes out in the end. For me you have cleared the long term question about Ann Doggles. We have had her marrid to two separate Hortons and it may be then that the other Horton could be your connection instead of to Nelson Horton. Give me more time to get into another database and will get back to you on this one. Now, we have Nelson to Elijah and Catherine Nelson Horton I desperately need a Horton male from Elijah's direct line to get a DNA sample made. Have you any idea how that could be done? I have one lonely female at about 85 years of age left as a survivor - an't that will not work. I will be in Russell county, VA over this coming weekend. This was the parent county of Scott, Lee and Wise. Are you near there? perry

    3. Hi Perry The date is about right for James to have married but his wife (on the 1850 census) was Arrena and she still used that name on a later census after James was apparently dead. Where was this marriage? I have Nelson in Grainger Co. in 1809 and 1810 along with what I would guess to be his brother, John. I've got a John married to Lucy Tanner someplace in my files but couldn't locate them on a bet right now. I live in California but will be in Rutherford Co and Hawkins Co the end of August and 1st part of Sept. Hugh Horton Sr. b ca 1655-61 d 1724 Westmoreland Co., mar Jane Snowdall/Snowden Hugh Horton Jr. b 1687-90 d 1766 Westmoreland or Stafford Co. mar Elizabeth Rawlins. You are right about William. I just took that from someones genealogy. We had our DNA tested through my brother a couple of years ago and made the connection to our next generation. I had been stuck on that line for 20 years. At that time there was only the straight line test for males. Now I understand there is a test for females. And I don't think ANYONE knows all there is to know about any line. But we keep on digging and little bits pop up every now and then. Pat
