Thanks for the reply Lorenda. Unfortunately it doesn't look as though our Horton's are related. Based on the 1900 census, Mary L. was living with her son, Thomas. Thomas' wife was Sarah (maiden name unknown). The census listed Mary as having only one child, thus my problem. J. Horton and Mary were living in Randolph Co., AL when the Civil War broke out. I'll make a note regarding your Horton's in case I come across anything on them. I have access to one of the larger geneology libraries in the country - Clayton Memorial Library, Houston, TX.
