Hi Thomas or is it Tom? The lady from England was right when she said that there were several places called Horton. There is one in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Lancashire, Northamptonshire, Shropshire, Shropshire, Somerset, Staffordshire, Surrey, Swansea and Wiltshire. In addition there is Horton Cross in Somerset, Horton Green in Cheshire, Horton Heath in Hampshire, Horton-in-Ribblesdale in North Yorkshire, Horton Kirby in Kent and Horton-cum-Studley in Oxfordshire. My son and myself were going to try and visit all of them in twenty four hours since Britain is less than nine hundred miles long but he was killed in a motor cycle accident last year. However I may be able to persuade my wife or my daughter to accompany me on this reckless journey. As far as my Family Tree is concerned I am told that my Great-Grandfather went to America sometime between 1881 and 1911 but I can find no evidence of this. His name was Thomas and he was born in 1846 and he came from Stoke-on Trent so if you or anyone else can shed any light on this I would be very grateful. Researching the Horton name in North Staffordshire I have about 200 Hortons from 1846 to 1901 but cannot link my family to any of them. Keep on searching! Ed Horton
