I am doing some more research on Joseph Horton. I am tring to find where he came from in England. His Revolution papers say Hartford England. Sorry fellow researcher but there are (2) Hartford's in England. One west coast and one on the east coast. Cindi: I used to live in Ft. Collins, Longmont (had a business in Boulder) Colorado Springs, Greeley and Loveland, Co. If you will go to "Long Island Genealogy" and use the "Horton" or "de Horton" surname you will find all the information you want. All footnoted, proven and free. I have a 3 inch ring binder full of "Horton's" information. I am a decendent of Richard Horton, son of Caleb (II )Horton. Joseph Horton came to Long Island, with other brothers, in about 1635-39. Possibly this is the Joseph you are seeking. Note that the Horton given names will repeat every other generation. The "Horton" name will go back to about 1200 as de Horton prior to about 1590. These ancesters from England seem to come from Mowery, Lanchestershire, England, however, they moved around, also. Have found, by accident, a "Horton" in London, England, dated 1100. Hope this helps. If you cannot get into "Long Island Genealogy" you may have to join Ancestry.com. Also, visit your "Family History Libraries" supported by the Morman Church. They will have all this on film.
