Having searched diligently - I find from some e-mail back in March 2005 a J. Gilbert Horton 1821-1893 m. Adelia ----------. I cannot match J. Gilbert to any other person or family. Suggest - looking in a local newspaper obituaries for the year 1893 for possible reference information. Failing that, I would suggest finding the 1850 census for that county and place in New York and see if J. Gilbert or Gilbert Horton is located near other Hortons in the same place. That might give unexpected clues. We had Pulham spelled "Pelham." Question: When you mention City Island, NY is that a reference to Long Island??
