    2. Lee - I have checked this out and this is not your Daniel. I am sorry. However the only clue I might offer is that Bayles can be spelled several different ways and looking for Daniel Hortons is like looking at a tree of acorns - unless there is an identifier, usually the wife's name. But I do appreciate your sharing this information and you do now have an ally. We will continue the search with you. I have some other sources to check and will be in touch. Donna Horton

    2. Marilyn - This man is shown to be the son of the Thomas Horton and Hepzibah Taylor whom you also listed. These are listed in Lillian Horton Alpeter's book - Ancestors of Stephen and Jane (Horton) Horton of Warwick, New York published in 1977. The Daniel Horton. s/o the above Thomas Horton is shown to be b. 19 Apr 1788 either Mamakating or Fishkill, Dutchess Co., NY. He married 1820 Hadassah Stevens in Steuben Co., NY. WE can elaborate further on other details and thank you for death dates and places that were not shown in Mr. Altpeter's book. Contact me for other specific details. Donna Horton

    3. I was interesting in discussing this family group.. I am looking for a Daniel Horton who should have been born around the time of the Daniel you list below..... My Daniel's wife was born in 1785 , and since your Daniel is listed as born 1788 that looks about right age wise.... Can you share what information you have on this family group --perhaps this is my mystery Daniel! My Daniel married Rhoda Bayles (she was from New Rochelle) and I know of two children Rhoda Ann Bayles b1805 (she is buried in the Dutch Church in Sleepy Hollow with her husband) and Epenetus Horton b 1806 d 1821 buried New Rochelle . What's interesting is both children are named from her side, which doesn't seem a normal naming pattern, and I found (what I am sure is her) in the NYC phone directory, and the listing for Daniel Horton switches to Rhoda Horton , and then by 1829 Horton widow, Rhoda. So I suspected maybe he left her before her second child was born (he being named apparently for her brother Epenetus) but maybe didn't die until later. I wonder if it is the same Daniel?? ________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________ Sent: Thursday, May 05, 2005 10:45 AM To: HORTON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [HORTON] Stephen and Susannah Hyatt Hortons/o Thomas Horton I am researching the following Horton family and would appreciate any help and suggestions. 3. I am looking for the parents of Elizabeth Horton who married James Drown after the war of 1812. James was a prison held in England and came home and found his sibling all gone from their childhood home. He went to Phila. and later moved "high" upon the Susquehanna in Athens, Bradford County. Earlier on December 25, 1807 a Mary "Polly" Horton b about 1791 was married in Chemung, Chemung County then Tioga County, NY possibly to a Drown or a similar spelling or sounding name. John and William Drown sign the petition by the Connecticut settlers to the PA legislature in 1801 The Bradford county History does record a disappears of a William Drown in a blinding snow storm. Is in possible that James came to Athens because some of his siblings and their families were here. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I would guess that since they are in the same location as the Horton family that I am researching that they are relatives, but I don't know what the connection is. My research went to the Baumguardners. The thrill of geneology is in the search. Hope that you find them and continue on through the ancestors. Since you know that they were in McCulloch county, if they died there, look in the cemeteries. If they are buried in McCulloch county, contact the funeral home and ask for the burial records. Burial records list living survivors and parents and where they live. Hope this helps. Jacque

    3. Debbie. As far as I know at this time I'm the only documented Barnabas HORTON descendant with final results for 37 marker Y-DNA. I'll share my results if asked. From previously posted messages there seems to be several different Gilbert HORTON families being researched. There are no Gilbert HORTON men in my direct lineage back to Barnabas. I believe one or more is alleged to be a descendant of Barnabas but not in my line. It would be nice if there are any descendants of Thomas HORTON / of Springfield, Mass / alleged brother to Barnabas in the Y-DNA project or thinking of joining it would be a great help possibly confirming or dissolving the connection between Barnabas and Thomas.
