Myra, Glad to hear from you. Actually, we live very close. (My husband is from Birmingham) We live in Montgomery and my mother and sister are coming with me. I do have a few old pictures to share, I will make some extra copies of them. Guess I can make a copy of the entire tree of family group sheets and maybe a copy of our direct line. Have you shared your line on the "net"? Where is your line from? DNA????? Daddy has some low matches and some high matches but honestly I really don't understand it. Guess I will bring copies of that too. I would love to find some information to give me a jump start. Since Daddy passed away I guess my passion did too. Can't wait to meet you. jean rigdon I
Perry, I received this e-mail, I'm sure by mistake. I started, once again (smile) working on my HORTON family genealogy. My maiden name is HORTON, and we don't know hardly anything except myg-grandparents names. Sad, huh? We are from Michigan. If you should hear anything about Homer and Almira, would you please let me know? Thanks, Perry!! Vicky P.S. If you find out that I can help you in anyway, just let me know!

Patty - overnight I think I see an omission in the line of your pedigree. James Horton's father was Reuben Horton (I believe), and his father was the Reuben Horton, s/o Anthony and Rosemond Duncomb - so we don't know who James' mother was - that's a blank. So the date I calculated for Reuben Jr was probably close to Winfred Preston's - c 1797. Reuben gave his consent for James to marry Winifred which probably means he was under age. So there was no other wife for James Horton - I guess. However, the marrriage record - Warren Co. KY - should clarify that fact if it can be located and the date was 13 May 1813. The DNA seems to show that our basic facts are about right. His (James') siblings were Nancy Horton b c 1793 and Mary Horton b c 1795, no place mentioned).Rueben Horton, Jr. was born c 1773 mouth of Wheat's Creek, on Green River, Rutherford Co., NC. The only problem I can see with the paper trail - is do we have the correct James Horton as you ancestor and that's probably what needs to be clarified. We will try to get at the bottom of this next month at the Horton Gathering in Nashville. There is a lady in St Petersburg, FL who is knowledgeable about this family and I will contact her today for further information. Perry
Okay - Above Samuel was the son of Thomas Horton and his wife Susanna Conklin. Thomas Horton was the s/o Deacon James Horton and Anna Goldsmith - these Hortons are of the Barnabas Horton group from Long Island. The conklin family actually came to Salem MA as glass manufacturers and moved onward to Long Island after some time there. The present location of their Salem glass works is now located in adjacent to Salem, Peabody, MA. Dan Horton
Samuel Horton, subject above, was born 1768 Goshen, Orange Co NY. Reference - p 410, Horton's In America, White - 1929. That is all I have except he was married to a Margaret Consalious (or similar last name). Dan Horton.

Hello everyone, I am so excited.... Made my reservation. This is my first. (This is a continuation of Daddy's work). Now - what to bring???????? 1. Daddy's DNA report - registered with Familytreedna? 2. Our family tree starting 1814 w/marriage of Wm & Nancy (Alabama Hortons beginning with - parents William and Mary??????????? son William and Nancy Norwsworthy 3. What else? You know, I have not shared with the 'net' our family tree. Should I? I have it on the new family tree maker program. And where? Thank you, jean rigdon
Hi Jean, Yes, we will be discussing DNA at the meeting on Thursday night. Most people bring books, family sheets and old pictures in case someone may be connected to your line. I just bring the bare essentials and if I connect with someone at the Gathering, then we can email and share a lot later. It will probably be hot, so come casual and cool. Are you coming alone or with someone? Where do you live? Please ask me any questions. I am so looking forward to meeting you. Myra Hester Warren/Birmingham

My mother was Lois Loretta Haight Warren born 1917. Mom had a twin by the name of Lucille Leota who died in 1918. Mom married James L. Warren. They had Ken, my older brother, Jan, my sister and me. I was born in Erie, Pa. That's how I fit in. I remember Aunt Lila but didn't really know your mother. My brother and sister are quite a bit older and they knew the whole family. Wesley Anson Haight, Adda's husband, died at our home on 34th street in Erie when I was 5. I think you may have been in contact with Ken some time ago, he served in Thailand before you did. I've heard the story about having Senaca blood but with no confirmation, I have heard 2 other stories about who fathered Adda, with no confirmation on anything. I have traced Orcelia from 1860 to her death in 1937 and have a copy of her death certificate and a picture of her headstone. Any information we could share would be greatly appreciated. Anita
Eli Horton enlisted on Sept. 3, 1862 as a private in the 27th Reg., Company A, New Jersey Volunteers. One record says he was mustered out on July 2, 1863 at Neewa (this could be Newark, NJ). He was buried in plot #49 œ at Walkill Cemetery, which is now known as the Phillipsburgh Cemetery in Orange County, New York. He is buried on what is known as Soldier's Hill, and his NJ Regiment is named on the tombstone. (Thanks to Marietta PicKell for this info.) I am curious if someone can name the parents of Eli, or any other New Jersey connection. Also, why is he buried in New York instead of NJ?
