Dear Garland; I would also like to have Dora Reeves information if possible. I descend from William Horton through his son Michael Horton, to Sanford Horton, Louisa J. Horton. Thank you Brenda Osborne
Hi, Cynthia: I have 5 pages of info from Dora Reeves on this Cato family. She also has Vincent Cato married to Sophia Horton, daughter of William Horton, their children, the citation on the 62 acres you mentioned, and much more on related families. If you don't have Dora's data, send me your address and I'll mail you a copy. I descend from William Horton, and have tried many times to connect Sophia to this line, with no success. The names of the children Dora listed are all common to my Horton line, and the related families are all familiar. Sophia continues to be one of those brick walls!! Garland Horton (Daniel/Amos,Sr/William/Sterling/William Ransom/Hilliard Judge.

Hello, There is a plat at the South Carolina Dept of Archives and History for: VINSON HORTON. Date: 23 Sept. 1790. Description: HORTON, Vinson, plat for 62 acres near Little Lynches Creek, Camden District, Surveyed by Josiah Cantey on Nov 24, 1784. Other names mentioned: William Horton, William Johnston. Series S213190 Volume 0025 Page 00217 Item 02 Can anyone tell me of this Vinson Horton? I have not been able to find him in the SC census. I am interested because my 4xgreat grandfather Vinson CATO is said to have been married to Sophia HORTON, though I have not found proof of Sophia's family name. Sophia is also said to be a "cousin" of her husband Vinson Cato. Thanks for your help! Cynthia Benua
Hello Everyone, I apologize in advance for this email, but I am travelling and had unsubscribed to the list. Yesterday, however, I found a very interested candidate for DNA testing descended from Abraham b. 1722>Daniel d. ca 1838 McMinn Co TN>Isaac d. Greene TN>William Rankin>Isaac d. Missouri. (All from memory..sorry). I resubscribed for this query. Could someone please email me the info, or give me the website again. I am using a library computer and only have limited time. I descned from William Rankin's sister Martha Horton who married Henry Sexton. William Rankin Horton married Henry's sister Elizabeth Sexton. Descendants of both ended up within a few miles of each other in Dade/Lawrence Co. Missouri area. Thanks! Best Regards, Janet Hunter
Contact Dan Wharton at pelhamdan@aol.com. He is the administrator for the Horton DNA respository and he will be happy to help you with info. Good Luck! Myra

A recent DNA sample from Warren Co MO has revealed from that person's years of work on Anthony Horton b. c1720 of Stafford Co VA some new information, filling gaps from Warren Co to MO, to Warren Co KY to Rutherford Co NC, to Fairfax Co VA to Stafford Co VA - to said Anthony above. If you know of any Horton males who may descend from this Horton group, DNA samples are still needed and we need more participants from this group to fill in even more gaps that are still open. From this person's work, we acknowledge that several younger Anthony Hortons and several younger Reuben Hortons are mostly connected to the two brothers Aden and Reuben Horton b. mid late 1740's - 1750s. Need help with this branch of a Hugh Horton descendant group. Perry

My wife and I attended the 350th Horton reunion in 1990 at Southold. They had placed a tall stepladder at Barnabas' Grave. this way we could take a picture of the slab on the grave. We were told that Barnabas brought the Sandstone slab with hin when he came to America. One of my mothers ancestors [ Conklin ] married Barnabas' daughter Sarah about 1670. My mother and father married in 1914. My Horton surname came from Willian Horton of Orange County,NC late 1700. The Hortons moved from Orange Co.NC to Tenn. in 1822. To Greenville, Tx 1838. We still have 101 acres that was Homesteaded by James Redford Horton. The landgrant was from the Republic of Texas. Hal C.
