Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BBk.2ACIB/1978 Message Board Post: I'm looking for the birth/baptism of Edith Horton (the spelling could be a little different) born between 1873 and 1877. Her parents were Henry and Martha Horton and they lived in Liverpool at the time of Edith's birth, but moved to the Midlands a few years later. The churches where I think the baptism would most likely have taken place are the Parish Church of St Peter or the Parochial Church of St Nicholas. Does anyone have any information on this family? Many thanks, Maggie Smith

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BBk.2ACIB/1977 Message Board Post: Sarah Horton married to James Johnson 9/16/1880, Etowah County, AL. They moved to Mexia, TX around 1894-95. They had 6 children (Martha Obera, Harve ???, Ortha F., Ida M., Arthur S., Sarah E.) as far as I can tell. I have seen several posts on this family, but no one lists the oldest child. I have several records on her and they all prove her parents to be James and Sarah. She is not in the 1900 census with her parents since she is already married. Maybe that is why she is overlooked. I am descended from the oldest child Martha Obera. She lived to be nearly 104, so I got the chance to know her. She was married to LaLevel Davis in 1898 in Limestone County, TX. I have been able to locate James and Sarah in the 1900 census. Are they still in Limestone County in 1910 and 1920? Does anyone have information they could share with me on Martha's parents/siblings? Thanks in advance for any help. You can email me direct. 2. Here is some information I have. Only have sons James and Jesse, no John. History of Stewart county, Ga. by Sara R. Dixon, Waycross, Ga.(Ladson Library, Vidalia, Ga), page 857, last paragraph: "Sampson Horton, b. abt. 1824; was probably a son of Daniel and Nidsey and a brother of Daniel, b.1825, as he was too old to have been a son of Jesse Horton. On Dec 23, 1856 he m. Jane Meadows, dau. of Jesse Green Meadows and Renvie Baldwin. Living in the 22 Dist. in 1860 census with Jesse 4; James 1; and his mother Mary Horton, 50, a widow with property of $1000.00. Sampson had $800.00 and $2,000.00. He went to Civil War and was never heard of again.... * compiled form the files of Mrs. H. M. Dixon" Would like to add whatever you might have beyond this. Scott Owens

    1. [HORTON] Susannah HORTON, born 1816 Canada
    2. Ken & Alayne Christie
    3. Hi I'm new to this list and am looking for any leads on the family of my wife's 2X great grandmother Susannah HORTON born 1816 in Upper Canada. Susannah married Josiah BEAM, himself born 1811 in the U.S. Marriage date not known but believed to be about 1835. Susannah died in Oxford County in 1888. By 1838, Susannah and Josiah were in East Zorra Township, Oxford County. They had nine children between 1838 and 1861. Prior to the marriage, Josiah is believed to have been in Clinton or Louth Townships, Lincoln County. Josiah's brother and sister married in Lincoln County in early 1830s and moved to Oxford and Middlesex Counties respectively. I suspect that Susannah herself was from the Clinton, Gainsborough, or Louth Townships and that Josiah and Susannah married in Niagara and moved to Oxford, but the marriage could have taken place in either place or perhaps somewhere between. Any assistance would be appreciated. Ken Christie Oakville, Ontario,
