But my grandmother, Leon Treat Horton married Arl (sp) Horton. She lived in Yellville, AR when she died. She died in 85. They had the following children (maybe more, these are all I know of). Othene, Reycine sp?, Larry, Melvin, Preston, Billy Joe, Betty Sue, & Paul. I think most of us grew up in Arkansas. Horton, 80, of Heritage Heights, Concord, and Main Street, Lancaster, died Friday at Concord Hospital. She was born in Syringa, Va., the daughter of Lloyd and Mary (Mercer) Doughty. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1944 to 1945. She graduated from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Va. She was the owner and operator of Hortons store in Lancaster for 27 years. She was the past president of the Lancaster Unity Club, a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Lancaster, the ECW and the Women's Veterans Organization at Heritage Heights. She was an avid bridge player. She loved to travel, read and do crossword puzzles. She often went to the Weeks Memorial Library in Lancaster. Survivors include two sons, Dennis Horton of Garner, Maine, and David Horton of Douglas, Wyo.; two daughters, Suzanne Williams of Arlington, Va., and Sara Mullarkey of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Her husband of 48 years, Lynn C. Horton, died five weeks before she did. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 113 Main St., Lancaster. The Rev. David Rose will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Weeks Memorial Library, 128 Main St., Lancaster 03584. The Bennett Funeral Home in Concord is in charge of arrangements. Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are. This is here as a lasting memorial for Mrs. Horton.
