I have been trying to make the connection to him for years. I came from the Pelham area (Canada) and went to school with some Horton girls but we could get back far enough in our families to make the connection and I have lost track of them over the years. I'm almost sure we are related. My maiden name was also Horton.

My Miami was married to Stephen Shaw and lived in Providence, Saratoga County, New York state. Do you have any information that could place your Horton line in Mass., Rhode Island or New York? My Miami was born in 1800 and is buried in Waushara County, Wisconsin. Because many of the first names were repeated I am giving you the names of her children: Lorenzo, Hamilton, Jay/Jerry, Amanda, Angeline, Jane, Melinda and Alvin. I hope we can find something in common between these two - the name Miami is rather unusual. Sandi

I just don't get it but the date of Simon Horton in 1811 RI is so very close to the Wm. H. Horton b. 1809 RI, that I have to ask the question. Just grabbing at straws.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: HORTON, MILLER, CARPENTER, Etc.. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BBk.2ACIB/2003 Message Board Post: Greetings all, Still searching for my mysterious Levi W. Miller for Tioga County, PA. What I have found out this past year is that Levi was married to Cora May STRADLEY (who died in 1918/9 and is buried at Welsboro Cemetery). Levi was living in Delmar township according to the 1908 county directory, but is nowhere to be found in the 1910 census. Levi and Cora had 11 children, 2 of which died in early childhood. The 2nd oldest, Rosella (Rose) MILLER, married an Edward G. HORTON in 1909 sometime and lived in Welsboro. they had 2 children 1 of which was Iola. Another daughter, Tessie, married Everett DE LONG on 14 September 1909. Oldest daughter, Minnie, married Lewis HANCOCK of Scranton, PA 5 May, 1906. Another daughter Esther, married Howard N. CARPENTER 29 August, 1927. My findings give me a possible death of Levi W. Miller as 30 December 1918. Looking for information on the parents of Levi W. MILLER (b. Dec 1863-d. 1918??). According to the my grandfather's (Howard N. CARPENTER) funeral book, it looks like Rose HORTON and daughter IOLA were still alive in 1941. Also it is possible that daughter Tessie divorced or widow of Everett DELONG, remarried someone with the last name of SWEETLAND. Also another daught of Levi's, Margaret, may have married someone with last name of WELCH sho had daughter named Denise. There were 2 MILLER names on the list. One is Dorothy Miller (possible wife of John MILLER, a son of Levi) and a William Miller (possible sone of Levi born between 1900-1910. Would appreciate any help locating parents of Levi W. MILLER

    2. Hi to the list - Happy Thanksgiving to everyone I am still looking for anyone who may have descended from Gilbert Horton of Long Island, NY. I do know of two sisters Sarah and Caroline. What I was hoping for is that I haven't posted to the list in the past few months is maybe someone new is out here and has descended from the Gilbert who is the father of this Gilbert. Anyone out there? Now, Ellsworth had 3 sons and one daughter..My great grandfather Nelson Butler b:1874. Adelia b: 1875 then Walter R. and Joseph E or C (twins b: 1879) Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm listening. Debbie Horton M. South Florida
