    3. Thanks for replying! I don't know much about our Hortons. I'm going to tuck your message away for a while, just in case a connection shows up later on. I don't find our Randolph Horton in any census so far. I just know for sure he was in Guthrie County. Thanks again. Debby J.

    3. We have a Horton family ---Randolph Horton, born in N.Y., moved to Guthrie County, Iowa. I need to find out from my sister-in-law the name of Randolph's parents, and the dates. Randolph Horton - married to Mary Ophelia Bennett - had a dau. Vina, my husband's grandmother. There were two brothers of Vina, Frank and Harry, but I don't think they had children. Vina was born in the early 1890s. I'll try to find out other dates. Debby Jorgensen

    3. I also have Iowa Horton's Daniel Bent Horton, married to Susan Esther Stone...moved from Belpre, Oh to Hawarden (Calliope), Sioux County, IA. They were among the first five families in the settlement. I believe they arrived around 1870. They died in the 1890's. They had 9 children: Ernest, Eunice, Bessie, Alfred, Ralph, Blanche, Ruth, Ray and Joseph Stone.

I'm afraid my Alfred came from England around the age of 20 and was a trained optomotrist. He married and lived in New Haven, CT for a few years having had one son, my Grandfather Thomas. Alfred died at the age of 23. His son knows nothing about him except that he came from England as a yound man. Thomas grew up and came to live in New Britain, CT where he lived for the rest of his life. My mother lived there all her life and I was born there. I don't think we are related to your line of Alfred Hortons. Good Luck. Don Gunther

Horton who was Isabella married to William Isaac Horton. He was the son of Robert and Joanna(Robinett) Horton. Isabella parents haven't yet been totally established. Some people say she was a Benton. In the 1850 census for Scott Co. Va. there is a Zach Benton and family living next door to Isaac and Isabella Horton?? There is also a William Benton living close by if I remember right. All of these Bentons are from N.C. which is where Isabella is from. Hope this makes some sense. Hope to hear back from you. Thanks again, Jamie

Mabe is less than 20 miles (I think) from Gate City. I descend from Jesse Horton, b abt 1780 who married Sarah "Sally" Stanley through their son, Lilbourne Henderson Horton, b abt 1818. He had siblings, Eliza Horton and James Lewis Horton. LH Horton married Arminda Ruth Mitchell. I descend from their daughter, Nancy Horton, b 1863, who married Samuel Stephen Stone. Nancy Horton had siblings: Sarah, Rebecca, Martin, and Wm Horton. I would love to connect w/ any members of this family.
