Thankyou. This might be the same Horton. I can't find him buried where he is supposed to be buried. Also can't find his wife Antoinette Purdy Horton. These Horton's were odd people. My grandmother didn't seem to want to came her family. Her dad, Randolph spent some time in prison or jail for either stealing a horse or chickens.... His dads name was Henry. I appreciate every little bit of help I can get.
Deborah: I am not sure if this response was for me or another lister. But just want to say my Wm. Henry Horton moved to Cedar Co., Cass Twp., Tipton, IA in 1853 from OH (had a son Isaac). He is buried in Dayton Cemetery near Iowa Co., IA. This cemetery is located in a rural area on a farm. I hope I didn't butte in here on someone else's information. So these two Wm.'s are not the same person but thanks just the same if it was meant for me. And if it wasn't I'm very sorry for intruding. A William Henry Horton came to Iowa and is supposed to buried in the Monteith cemetery but I can't find him in the master cemetery index. He married Antoinette Purdy . I can not find a burial site for her or find her in any census. I am wondering if they divorced or she died before he came to Iowa. They had at least one son named Randolph. He is my great granddad. I have info that he also had son Issac and Franklin. Randolph married Mary O Bennett and they had four children, Franklin, Harry, Vina and James. Vina is my grandmother. Vina married Andrew Jorgensen and they had 4 children. Franklin and Harry did not have children. James died young.
Pat: Since these Horton children were born after 1803, I would be interested for more information about the William (child). Might his middle name been Henry? When he may have been born and did he immigrate to the United States and if so what year? This is just a shot in the dark but I don't want to miss anything as we've looked every where for parents or siblings for our William Henry Horton b. 1809-10. Thanks for posting this and thanks again for any leads in advance. What I have is a will probated 1801 of a William Horton naming his 5 sons and 3 daughters. 1 son moved away that I know of, but that leaves plenty of others who had many children. William2 got 1/2 of the farm and he had a son William. Brother, Daniel, got the other 1/2, he may have had a William also. Here are some Yorktown Hortons on the census records with the page #. I have identified a few with an * as the above named ones. This is probably not a complete list. Hello, Listers If anyone is tracing a HORTON family from the area east of Huddersfield, including Kirkheaton and eastward in Yorkshire, please get in touch with me. My cousins and I have traced our line in Yorkshire from 1901 back to the marriage, in Kirkheaton, in 1803, of Thomas HORTON and Priscilla DURRANS. Thomas and Priscilla had at least 12 children: Sybial (d.y.), Mary, William, Sibby, Narah, John (maybe emigrated to Canada or the U.S. in 1848), Ruth, Hannah, Leah, Sarah, Thomas, and Ann (d.y.). All these children were born in Kirkheaton between 1804 and 1824. If anyone has any or all of this family in their HORTON line, I shall be very glad to hear from you. Would you mind me asking if any of these Hortons spill over into RI, OH or IA? I have a William Henry Horton and can't find any parents or siblings for him anywhere? Supposedly born RI in 1809-10 and had a son Isaac b. OH removed to IA, KS & NE. Happy hunting. The only record I have for parents is that William Henry Horton's Father was Harry. If it's not a lot of trouble I would like to see the records but I don't want you to spend a lot of time typing something that might not fit in my line. I'm just getting started. My grandmother, Vina Jorgensen, didn't speak about her family. The grandchildren didn't know their grandparents. They died when my dad, the oldest grandchild was about 2 years old. Thanks
Would your William possibly be the son or grandson of William Horton and Ruhanna Buckbee of Yorktown? They had a son William but I don't know the date. Would be happy to share any info I have on Westchester Hortons. Michael Ann Brown
Praise God. I have looked and looked and haven't found very much information. My aunt tells me my grandmother never talked about her family. I think my sisterinlaw got some information from the Guthrie County court house in reference to Randolph. It listed William Henry Horton as Randolph father and Anne C. Pardy as his mother. But it's probably Antoinette Purdy. Randolph is my greatgrandfather. I have gotten some info from a book called The Past Present and Future of Guthrie County. William died 1-21-1913 and buried in G. county Randolph was born in NY 2-11-1858. Randolph married Mary Bennett and had 4 children Harry, Franklin, Vina and James. Vina is my grandmother and married Andrew Jorgensen. I can provide you info on marriages, children and death dates of these G.C. people. I would be happy to have the infoirmation. Harry and Franklin did not have children and James died early (8 Years Old.) Let me know what I can provide for you and please send me what you have. Thanks Loads> Joyce

Deborah, I have some information on your William Henry Horton but he married Antoinette Purdy. William Henry was born Feb 14 1833 in Yorktown, New York. He moved to Guthrie Center, Iowa. His children were: Issac, Randolph and Franklin. Don't have a birth date for him, don't know whom he married but his sons names are: Harry and Vina. I would like to exchange any information that you have on the Horton family. I have more information on the above people. Best Regards, Chris
Is anyone out there related to William Henry Horton who married Anne C. Pardy. Henry was born 8-18-1830 in New York and died 1-21-1913 and is buried someplace in Guthrie County Iowa.. They had at least one known child , Randolph Horton. Born in NY 2-11-1858 and died 9-14-1918 and is buried in the Union cemetery in Guthrie Center, Ia. He married Mary Bennett who was born in New York. They had four children, Franklin, Harry, Vina and James who died young. I am trying to find siblings of Randolph and Mary. I think Sherman E might be a sibling for Randolph. Vina married a Jorgensen. I have all of that info. Mary had a brother W.H. a sister, Sarah who married J. Willison and James who died at 8 years of age. Mary's parents were William H. Bennett and Hannah Parker. Both born in N.J. William in 1838 and no bith date for Hannah. Thankyou
Cindi: I met to ask you what line does your husband's Matha Horton come forth from? I think all the Hortons must have been an adventuretous line of people. And I never in my life knew there were so many of us and ending up country wide until I got to doing genealogy. And yes, I overlooked your question about the weather, we are having some lovely weather but sure can use some more moisture. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: HORTON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BBk.2ACIB/2029 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on Charles F. Horton, age 36 in 1920 census - living in Hamilton Co., Ohio with wife Maggie L. and several children including Leola, Augusta R. (Ruby, I believe), Joseph, Walter G. (actually George Walter). According to census, Charles was born Missouri, father was born Tennessee and mother was born "South Carolina." Is this the same Charles F. who is the son of James S. and Rebecca F. Horton, age 26 in the 1910 census in Union, Ste. Genevieve Co., Missouri? The Charles F. I am looking for has the middle name of Franklin or Franklyn. Both men listed in the census have the occupation of working for railroad so I am hoping they are the same person. By 1930, Charles F. and "Maggie" or Margaret were divorced. Margaret was in St. Louis in 1930, have not yet located Charles. Any help appreciated!
