    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Horton Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BBk.2ACIB/1887.1 Message Board Post: There were two separate families of Hortons in Wake County in the late 18th century. There was a large family whose ancestry goes back to Barnabus Horrton who came to New England in the erarly 17th century. Some of their\s family names were: Samuel, William, Constant William and John. The line from which I descend also lived in the same area and owned adjoining landto Samuel, was comprised of Amos Horton, whose grandfather, Daniel, was born in Virginia and Amos' sons, Jesse, Drewry, and Hartwell plus several daughters who married Peebles, Lavender and Slaughter husbands. Jesse was my gggrandfather and he moved to Alabama in 1824. He was born in 1777 ca. There is a book giving the histories of prominent Wake County families and it list both these families. Both families have descendents living in the area now. Good Luck in your search! Bill Horton (William Amos Horton)

    1. Re: [HORTON] Re: decendents of amos and claiborne sons of william horton
    2. Hi, Brenda: I too descend from William Horton, but through son, Sterling. My records indicate that William did not have a son named Sanford, that Sanford was his grandson through son Michael (1782-1862), and Susannah Massey (1785-1843). One of 8 children, Sanford (1815-1877), m. Mary Eleanor Blackmon (1814-1856), their children: Louisa Jane (1843); William Jasper (1845); Sanford Newton (1847); Narcissa C. (1849); and, Willie Mae (unkn). (most dates are Abt.) The children you list for Hollis Horton and Molcy Jones agree with my records, except I have Churchwell as Churchill. I hope this helps. If you would like a descendancy chart from my database, please send your snail address. Garland Horton ([email protected])
