Looking for further information on the following. This is a bit involved so bear with me. According to family story someone once heard that the father of Berry HORSLEY, born ca 1823 in Kentucky [ according to census records], fathers name was "Ralph". Working from this point I have only located one "Ralph" in Kentucky that is a possibility, at least up to this point. 1870 Census Index Breckinridge County Hudsonville Town[?] Hardinsburg Post Office Born in Kentucky HORSLEY, Ralph age 68 Farmer Delila age 60 Keeps house Mikael age 22 Farm Hand Susan age 19 at home From the 1850 Breckinridge County Kentucky census I found what might be the same family. Listed also is what I believe to be "Ralph's" parents and some other relatives. 1850 District 2 Breckinridge Count Kentucky HORSLEY, Rapael* age 48 Delia age 41 Squire age 17 William age 15** Sally age 13 John age 10 Stephen age 7 Harrison age 5 Mitchell age 2 Levi age 84 Born Virginia Sarah age 74 Born Virginia CLARKE, Jane*** age 23 HORSLEY, Emily age 16 Henry age 12 * - Could this be a misspelling of "Raphael" or "Rafael" later shortened/Americanized to "Ralph"? ** - Age could be 13 if there was an inadvertent mark made when the taker moved his pen. *** - Jane is my best deciphering of the name on the census sheet. It was rather smudged or written over. I found Levi "HORSELY" listed in the 1820 Breckinridge County Census with three male children and five female children. "Rapael" was not listed separately. Depending on the birth date and date of census "Rapael" could have been the oldest male child. By 1845 Berry HORSLEY was already in Coles County Illinois with his wife and first born son, Joshua Theodore HORSLEY. According to land records from Coles County there was a "William" HORSLEY owning land there towards the end of the 1800's. Other family names from Breckinridge County in Coles County Illinois were Miller [ also located near my HORSLEY's in Oklahoma Territory ], and GANNAWAY. There may have been others that I'm not aware of. Does anyone have any information about the HORSLEY families listed above? -- (o:]>*HUGGLES*<[:o) Billie Walsh The three best words in the English Language: "I LOVE YOU" Pass then on!
