It certainly clears up my questions, especially since "Bush Davis" is obviously for "Bushrod" and not for a female ancestor whose maiden name was Bush as I thought possible. I see in your first post in this thread that you asked for information about the marriage of James Horsley (Jr) and a Margaret Valentine. Since your post is now 2 years old, you've probably already found my post to several message boards in Jan 2009 that tells what I found about James Jr's wife, and that she was not Margaret Valentine. In case you missed it, you can read it easiest at the Horsley GenForum URL below. There's also a post about Richard Horsley Sr's wife. Both are dated 8 Jan 2009. Feel free to write with any questions or corrections you might have. Thanks again for your help with Bush Davis. -Joan ([email protected]) - - - - - - "Patience, wife of James Horsley Jr., MD>VA 1700's": http://genforum.genealogy.com/horsley/messages/758.html "Wife of Richard Horsley, Halifax Co, VA, late 1700's": http://genforum.genealogy.com/horsley/messages/759.html Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. There are several villages with the name Horsley in them in different parts of the country. My father's family had lived for several generations in and around Beverley in Yorkshire. Several male members of the family had emigrated to the US and Canada before the first World War. It seems unlikely, however, from this timing that your family are directly related to any of these. Yesterday I saw a beautiful (large) framed marriage certificate of W. A. Horsley of Merced county, California and Anne P. Owens of Pennsylvania, married January 31, 1884, for sale in a local (Reno, NV) thrift store. It had pictures of the bride and groom. It kills me to see family items for sale like this... the price was prohibitive for me to buy it with hopes of finding a descendant, but if these are your folks, I'll be happy to be your middle man to purchase it and ship it to you. _________________________________________________________________ Rediscover HotmailĀ®: Get quick friend updates right in your inbox. http://windowslive.com/RediscoverHotmail?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_HM_Rediscover_Updates2_042009

Horsley apparently assigned this property to a Christopher Choate in about 1687-1688. Anybody know anything about this fellow? Also a later Henry Horsley in Annapolis signed a petition in May, 1774, dissenting from a citizen's resolution opposing the British blockade of Boston. Would like to know more about him, too.
