I haven't proved it but she was Elizabeth Fox before she was married and the Marriot Family kept in touch with my g grandfather. My gg grandfather was William Henry Fox as was his son. the rhyme Milicent Fox, Chatterbox, Magpie Marriot ths was apparently a family ditty. Mum could remember some of the family and it was her who made me look them up. She is still with us in body but the mind is somewhat scatty. They do sound an interesting family and I'll gladly let you have what I have found, probably not as much as you .Just back from a busy week sorting out parents house.I'll dig through my files when I get a minute cheers Hilary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I think they were an interesting family! Edith gave her father's occupation as "Trade Union Official" on her marriage certificate. She said "If you go to the Bennett/ Horsley Tree on Ancestry.com (I also have a Horsley tree) (go to the Teter side then it shows where their ancestors married into the Henkels)> If you look at the link I sent you, you will see what wonderful spiritual people we come from. But wait if you keep going up the tree from there to the Dentzers to the Wagners you will find in 1520 Claus Wagner married Anna Margareta Luther. Anna Margareta is the daughter of THE Martin Luther (not King)" So, according to that my 13th Grandfather is Martin Luther. Very cool. Author: Billie0W Surnames: Horsley, Crume Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.horsley/397.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Chris (Cousin) I still have not found anything definite about the parents of Berry Horsley. However, I do have a new theory. There's that old family story referenced in the first post in this thread. "Someone one said that someone said etc." In the story I was told it states that Berry's fathers name was Ralph. Old family stories may often be wrong in detail but still contain a germ of truth. IF at some point the story got changed from "brother" to "father" then Berry's parents could be Levi (born 1776 in Virginia) and Sarah (Crume) (born 1777 in Virginia) Horsley, Ralph's parents. That would make Berry their, possibly, youngest child. No proof as yet, but hope springs eternal. I can now give you a bit more information on Berry. According to his headstone he would have been born July 21, 1817 in Kentucky. He died May 28, 1884 at Hunnewell Kansas and is buried in Dry Grove Cemetery near Mattoon, Coles County, Illinois. I speculate that he was visiting with Theodore, possibly in connection with the lease in the Cherokee Outlet. You can get some more family history at one of my websites - http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~okcslsa/index.html Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
