Hiram was born on March 15, 1880 and died June 14, 1934. His wife was Lula Belle Sartain. I have the Death Certificate, which says that he is buried in Clarksburg Cemetery in Vanceburg, Ky.I have went looking for the graveyard and found it, but Hiram is not there. Looking for someone who may better details of where he is, maybe better directions, but what would be awesome is to be put in contact with some of his family members that are in the area. His Grandfather was Judge John Horsley, and father General Frank Horsley (Fannie Cradock), who served in India, which is where Leslie was born. Bishop Samuel HOrsley, Dean of Westminser, was reportedly his Great-Great-Uncle, and I am trying to trace the connection. This link details the story: http://www.memoriallibrary.com/CO/1898DenverPB/pages/pbrd1128.htm Is WD HOrsley of HOrsely Hills in India a relation? I'd also like to connect to any living Horsley relatives in the UK or elsewhere. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Cabell and Maria or Mary Horsley who was most likely a slave. I want to find out anything I can about her to fill out my knowledge about my ancestry. We had ancestors, Anderson Horsley and Betsy Williams marry while in slavery on the farm of Fred M. and I am thinking that Maria may have been a sibling of Anderson. In 1870 Anderson and Betsy had moved to northern Alabama in the company of their children and Adsonia as well as three other Cabell children, Catherine, Christopher and Pauline, who could have been Adsonia's siblings. My Horsley cousin and I conjecture that perhaps Anderson had the Cabell childrenwith him because Maria may have died before the war ended. If anyone has any knowledge or leads for me please contact me. I just want to know from whence we came. I've discovered a lot about the family but this is a new piece that I need help with. It's been ages since I have posted so I thought I would try my brick wall again Berry Leftridge Horsley Born: 21 July 1817, Kentucky Lived: Pleasant Grove Township, Coles County, Illinois Died: 28 May 1884, Hunnewell, Sumner County, Kansas Buried: Dry Grove Cemetery, Pleasant Grove Township, Coles County, Illinois Married 1st: Sarah N. Vanfleet, Born: 1825 Kentucky, Died: 24 Sept. 1890, Coles County, Illinois Buried, Dry Grove Cemetery [ same as above ] Married 2nd: Mary E. Hart Family story says that Berry's fathers name was Ralph. We all know how it goes with family stories, but, once in a while they do contain a germ of truth. With that in mind I have been looking for a "Ralph" in Kentucky in a time frame capable of being in the family [ father, brother, uncle, ???? ]. The only "Ralph" I have found in that time frame is a "Raphel", in 1850 Breckinridge County Kentucky Census - later "Ralph" in other census. His parents are living with him, Levi and Sarah (Crume) Horsley. There was at least one son of Ralph's, I think John, living near Berry in Coles County, Illinois, also buried in Dry Grove Cemetery I believe. There was a "William" nearby also that may have been another son of Ralph's. Sometimes family members migrated together or at least to areas where family had already gone. I would dearly love to connect Berry to this family, or whatever family he belongs to. Would also like to connect with any descendent's of Berry also to compare notes. -- “The only difference between death and taxes is that death doesn't get worse every time Congress meets.” — Will Rogers _ _... ..._ _ _._ ._ ..... ._.. ... .._
