AN OLD CITIZEN DEAD Mrs. Temperance Neel died at her home near Hornersville, Oct 26 at the age of 92. Her maiden name was Horner, her father, being a pioneer of Dunklin County. Her husband of James P. Neel, a brother of Thomas Neel, the first white child born in what is now Dunklin County. when she came here a child of twelve years, this county was a wilderness, and she saw it grow into a place of homes, schools, churches and civilization. She out lived three generations. Men, old today were born after she attained womanhood. Of her several children, but one is alive, Mrs Matt Hardwick of Hornersville. One son was the late Bud (T.R.) Neel, Once assessor of this county, whose widow lives here. For fifty years "Aunt Tempa" as she was affectionately called, was Baptist, and she died in the faith. The funeral, under the direction of Rev. R.D. McKinnies, was held on the 27th at the cemetery below Hornersville, where so many of her kin and friends are at rest. >From the Daily Dunklin Democrat - 1910
