    3. Hi Eleanor, Yes, I am very familiar with John Abram Waymire and have much info on him. Clarissa Arbro was one of his wives, married in Logansport, IN in 1838 and probably the grandmother of your friend. There is a book out named "Thunder Over the Chocos" that gives and account of the many hardships and perils of the 1845 Wagon Train to Oregon. Many lives were lost. John is mentioned several times as he was one of the leaders and also a scout with the train. I also have an account of his deliverance from violent epileptic seizures and his remarkable conversion to Christianity. He is credited with Portland becoming a seaport and I have a copy of the photo of the monument in Portland to that effect. My common ancestor with your friend is her g grandfather, John Rudolph Waymire, who arrived from Germany in 1753. If your friend is interested I'll send you or her info on the source of all of the Waymire family history, dating back several generations in Germany, complete with all documentation from Germany and pictures taken in Germany. A very dear friend whom I started doing genealogy back in the early 70's grandfather was John Waymire who came over the Oregon trial and settled, if I remember correctly in the Dalles, OR. I am not sure where he was from, maybe OH. Does any of this sound familiar? I don't think she is doing much genealogy any more and I don't know how far back she has the Waymire's. but she is still alive and well. I am sure she would be delighted to hear from you if you see a connection. I remember a Clarrissa Albro, but don't remember if she was John's wife or not. Just an interested friend. 3. Ed, I passed your message on to my friend Jeannie Matthews. She was quite excited . She evidently has some of the information that you mentioned but not all of it. I am sure she will be contacting you soon. It is fun to help a person make a new contact. Maybe this will be the spark that gets here started again. She lost her 2 twin sons, one at 35 and one about 50 with cancer, and her husband a couple years ago, and seems to have lost interest in many things. I know she wants to leave a history of the family to her one surviving daughter and the grandchildren she has from her sons. Maybe you are the one that reignites that spark in her life.
