Hi, I'm still stumped on the ancestry of the James HORNER who died ca. 1807-1808 in Augusta Co., VA. We know that he md. Elizabeth BERRY, dau. of Bradley BERRY of Albemarle Co., VA and that there were other BERRYs in Albemarle Co., VA who were probably related. James and Elizabeth HORNER had at least two children: Isham and John. According to records, Isham was b. ca. 1798-1799 and, in 1817 (at age 14+) in Augusta Co., VA chose Michael CLINEDINST as his guardian. This Isham was related in some way to Lucinda HORNER (b. ca. 1812 in VA) who md. John GRASS/CRESS in Augusta Co., VA in 1832. These are my husband's ancestors. The Augusta Co., VA court orders state that Lucinda (b. ca. 1812) was the dau. of this Isham HORNER, but this must be an error as Isham would have been only about 14 when she was born. Samuel TROUT was named Lucinda's guardian and posted her marriage bond in Augusta Co., VA with John GRASS in 1832 when she md. John. Isham "may have been" the Isem/Isham HORNER who went to Greene Co., OH where he was a blacksmith and md. Jane SELDOMRIDGE, dau. of Baltzer SELDOMRIDGE and his wife Catherine LAUDERMILCH....who had also lived in Augusta Co., VA. Hope someone out there is doing research on this HORNER family. Dolores in CA
