    3. Hello Carol. This is only a vague possibility, but I wonder if there could be any connection between this chap and my husband's Horner family in County Down, Ireland at almost the same time? William Horner, born ca1756 into a Presbyterian family, was one of the young men whom John Wesley converted and ordained as lay preachers in Ireland. He later took William to England where he was admitted to the ministry and spent the rest of hi life. He was my husband's 3xg-grandfather, and the Horner surname has been given as a second name to boys in the Fletcher family for several generations. Eunice Canberra

    3. Hello Carol Thank you for your reply; it's the first time I've contacted anyone researching a Horner from anywhere near Ireland, where William, the first Horner I know much about, was born. He went to England in 1778 with Wesley, but I have so far not found out where he was stationed until 1783 when he was working in the southeast of England, and courting the young woman he married two years later. Then they moved around in those counties as the Methodist Church saw fit. They were in Bristol in 1786, Oxford 1790, Devonport 1794-1796, Bradford on Avon in 1798 and Portsea in 1803; this I know from their children's birth dates. From letters I found that for a time William was in Merthyr Tydfil in Wales. (I hope that spelling is right!) I'm sorry I can't be any more help; good luck in your search for 'your' Charles -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Eunice Fletcher Sent: Monday, 7 January 2002 6:54 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [HORNER] Charles Horner born ca1754 Yorkshire Hello Carol.
