    3. Horner Listers, I have just finished reading all the early tax lists (those still existing and filmed by the LDS) of Burlington County, NJ, 1770 thru about 1820, though many years missing by Township, and a few just plain unreadable. I do not have these recorded and collated, yet, but hope to find my HORNER line, in so doing. Just wanted to mention that I did run across a Barzillia HORNER. Would your Barzillia HORNER happen to be from Burlington NJ? I also have extracted the early deeds and some court records. After I get these tax records into a format, I can post on the list, if any one is interested? May take a few weeks to get around to this. 3. Dear List, After reading your e-mails tonight on the HORNER family, I assume that alot of them were of the Quaker religion. I am writing about my g-g-g-grandmother Sarah Jane Horner who was born in 1787 in the state of Maryland, and died in 1865 in Carroll county, Ohio. She married my g-g-g-grandfather, John Williams of Hartford county, Maryland, born 1780, and he died in Carroll county, Ohio in 1855. We know very little about my g-g-g-grandmother. She and her husband did come from the same state, but he had previously married a Mary Billingsley, and she is suppose have died in childbirth. He oldest son was name Billingsley, and she had one more child James. Sarah Jane Horner, and John Williams did live in different states and counties. Alot of their children were born in Green county, Pennsylvania, some were born in Fayette county, Pennsylvania, and Carroll county, Ohio. There children were William born 1818 Barnet born Oct. 22, 1822 John Horner born Jan. 01, 1825 Mary Jane born Feb. 12, 1827 Thomas born 1830 Harriet born July 19, 1832 (my g-g-grandmother) When they settled in Carroll county, Ohio, they lived in Fox township in section 1. There children did not all stay in Ohio. They migrated to different states and counties. Billingsley stayed in Carroll county, Ohio. James came to Wisconsin to volunteer for the Civil War, and buried in Richland county, WI. William stayed in Carroll county, OHio. Barnet went to Kansas and lived there. John Horner, moved to Apponoose county, Iowa Mary Jane (Married to Edward Pinick), came first to Wisconsin, and settled here, where most of their children were born, and then they moved on to Kansas. Thomas, stayed in Carroll county, Ohio. Harriet, married to Duncan McBane/McBain, came to Wisconsin in1857, about move to Kansas for two years, but later returned to Vernon county, Wisconsin, and remained there the rest of their lives. This is about all the information I have on Sarah Jane Horner Williams - my g-g-g-grandmother. Thank you, Carol McBain

    3. I am looking for information on the parents of Van E. HORNER, born about 1877. He married Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Matheny in Marion County, WV on March 24, 1897. He died in 1946 and is buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Shinnston, WV. They had 2 sons, Walter Russell HORNER (1898-1986), George HORNER (abt. 1901-?) and 2 daughters, "Margaret" Marguerite HORNER (Davis) (1902-1977) and Olive E. HORNER (McIntire) (1906-1994). Van and "Lizzie" are shown in the 1910 Marion County WV Census in Mannington District along with the 4 children. In the same Census there is a Levi and Margaret living in the same area, I am wondering if these could be the parents of Van. In the1920 census Van and Mary Homer (sic) are living in Clay District, Harrison County, WV along with daughter, Olive, and grandson Ernest Hall, age 4. The information about Van E. HORNER is quite important to me as he is my great grandfather. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. David Cartwright WV

I am looking for the parents and siblings of John Hugh Horner. In the 1880 census it states that both of his parents were from NJ. I am currently working on an database of Horners in Ohio in the first half of the 1800's to try and find more info. He may be the brother of Sarah Elizabeth and Mariah Horner whe married into the Churchill family in Pike Co IL. A portion of his obit is as follows: Appleton City Journal January 15, 1903 Page 4, Col. 4 John Hugh Horner was the only son and youngest child of a family of nine children. He was born June 9, 1830, in Butler county, Ohio, in which state he spent his boyhood days. In his youth he came to Kinderhook, Pike county, Ill., and made his home with a favorite sister. August 28, 1856, he was married to Mary H. Kenady, to whom were born four children; the first born being a son, July 28 1857. In the spring of 1863 he moved to Hancock county, Ill., where his first wife died the same fall. Again he was married, February 21, 1864, to Caroline E. Campbell, in Davis county, Iowa, to whom were born 13 children. Just after the war he moved to Southwest Missouri, settling in Bates county, where he spent the remainder of his life, having lived about twenty-five years on one farm; hence he was one of the pioneer settlers of this section of the State. He was the father of seventeen children, seven of whom are still living. His second wife still survives him. He died at 8:30 p.m. December 31, 1902, being 72 years, 6 months and 22 days old. 3. Thought that I would post my Horner dead end again. Any possible connections would be appreciated Thanks Dave
