My "Isaac" Horner was born 1798 in VA but died in 1871 Roundhead, Hardin Co., OH. He married Jane Seldomridge (or Lautermildge) in Greene Co., OH 1835. Anyone one out there searching for this line? Hi Connie...I too am search for the "Horner" surname. Was wondering if your group were in Kenton CO., OH or other OH counties? Are there any "Seldomridge" surnames on your list? Thanks for your time and reply. F. Connie, Would you have anything on John Thomas Horner. Becky
Not yet, Becky. I will keep your query just in case I do. Thanks for responding. There is a lot of information about Isaac Horner available at Ancestry.com and FamilySearch. I would like to know if anyone has been able to document his ancestry or descendency. I am researching Daniel Horner b. 29 May 1820 IL, NY or PA and d. 3 Dec 1892 Fillmore Co., MN. He married about 1840 Annie Mohler (surname not proven) prob. Winnebago Co., MN. He was the son of Isaac Horner and Mary. Isaac was b. 4 Jan 1797 prob. Monogahela, PA. In 1797, was Monogahela in Allegheny or Washington Co.? According to online sources, Isaac's father was Isaac b. about 1764 and d. Feb 1849 Monongahela Co., VA. His mother was Zilpha or Zelpha b. about 1766 and was supposedly Native American. Yesterday I looked at Hinshaws Quaker encyclopedias for New Jersey but could not find any information on these Isaac Horners. I'm going to go back to the library tonight and look at the volume for New York. One record I found through FamilySearch gives the father of the last Isaac as John Horner whose wife was Mary Pearson. If anyone has documented this family, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks. Connie
In going through my Horner file I note that the LDS/FHL has some microfilms: The Horner family of Tadcaster and Leeds, Yorkshire and Burlington County New Jersey, 1600-1700 by Milton Rubicam [major genealogist] call number 1320832 item 24. Also: The Horner family of Wakefield. Co. York, W. H. Smith-Bailey, 1879 book 929.242 Some of that might contain some clues as to Anthony Horner and Harriet Bean. Anybody already have those? Bill Reque SF
Searching for the ancestry of our immigrant gggrandfather Edward Anthony Horner, a lawyer in London who emigrated in 1859 directly to Wisconsin. Born in London 29 Sept 1828, we suspect his parents might have been Anthony Horner and Harriet Bean who married 26 Sept 1827 either at St. Helen['s?] in York or according to another record, Whitechurch, Shropshire. I wonder if anyone has Anthony Horner and Harriet Bean in their records, as they were probably connected to one of those Yorkshire lines. Cheers, Bill Reque SF
I have no connection with this Horner family. I have a Samuel and Mary "Polly" Andrew Horner that were married 09/01/1829 in Fredericksburg, IN Good Luck in your search. I'd like to verify and/or clean up this discrepancy: In her Rootsweb data, Lois Wendell lists the following: This is Lois' entry: ID: I533735204 Name: Sarah A. Gaw Birth: 1792 in NJ Marriage1 Samuel HORNER b. 1790 in NJ Married: 4-16-1808 in presbyterian church, phil.pa Children: 1. Alfred Horner b. 12-15-1824 in Burlington, NJ 2. Joseph Horner 3. Aaron Horner b. 2-26-1824 in Burlington, NJ <> Yet in LDS/FHL, there are four listings which show this marriage in London, England, same date.
Hi Carolyn: Congrats on the retirement and the move to a warmer climate! I don't know who you were replying too, but we were in touch a few years ago. You are looking for a John & Rachael Horner, I've been looking for a John and Hannah [Green] Horner of Ocean Co. I have never gotten beyond these 2 in my research either. Hope you are having better luck that I have been having! I'm still in IN and must say I do envy the both of you! My John Horner was born about 1805. He lived in Salem County NJ. He married Rachel Bowen in Salem on Aug 29, 1833. They had at least one child that I know of. Her name was Hannah Horner. Rachel Bowen died in 1842. Hannah stayed in area of Harmersville, Salem County. John Horner kind of disappeared. I have never been able to trace him. There were numerous John Horners all born about the same time. Records at that time in Salem County, NJ were not the best. I don't know if there was a son named Barzilla. I guess it was possible. Hi Me.....I am very interested in hearing from you. I think we talked a few years back but could not seem to hook up at that time. I have always thought we are related but need to see more of your research to verify this. I have moved from Indiana to retirement in Florida so it will be harder for me to get to New Jersey. The first time I went there (about 8 years ago) I did not have enough of the right questions to ask but now I am a little better equiped. Thanks for the computor age & census records. Seems we were both looking for a John & Rachael Horner. We now have some interesting theories but still no proof and would like very much to discuss this with you. Talk to you later.....Carolyn & Ron at [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected])

I am researching Horner family from Tuckerton area. If you think the information would be helpful, I sure would appreciate receiving it if not too much trouble. Appreciate your efforts and your offer. Thanks! Carol Horner-Iacona Schertz, TX (born NJ) [email protected]
As I promised the list, I completed extracting the extant tax lists (by Township) for Burlington County, NJ. The names include both my BOWKER and HORNER families, and the total is 6 pages. This is too much to post to the List, and would, if I did post, loose format. The 6 pages is in Microsoft Word, and I can send to anyone who requests as a 6 page attachment to an e-mail. Please, if you request I send you a copy, do not post to the internet---things have a way of coming back, changed and with no credit. Would appreciate if you request a copy, that you agree not to post, just use for your own purposes? Please? Just send a note direct to me (not the List) and I'll return the 6 page attachment. Dear Bob & Horner list; Yes, I am interrested in Barzillia Horner information. I understand there was another, older Barzillia, born about 1772, that lived in that same area in NJ. Again, mine was born about 1814 according to Indiana census records and a marriage certificate that I aquired from Brown County IN. He was about 68 years when he married the 2nd time and died he died 1 May 1892 at age 78. I am sure this other Barzillia was either his uncle or closely related. I have been pointed toward Charles & Alice Horner being my Barzillia's parents, but why would he have listed John & Rachel as his parents (from Ireland) on his 2nd marriage certificate? There was a John Horner who came to southern IN around this time frame but no mention of a Rachel unless she died in NJ or in route to IN. I am at a dead-end unless someone else out there knows something I don't know. I will write later with more info that I have that might help someone out there. Thanks in advance....Carolyn (my mother was a Horner) [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected])
My Hornor line is Thomas Hornor who became a Quaker, and his wife, Ann Taylor. I believe his line goes back to NJ and will be very interested to see the information you put together from Burlington, NJ records. Marion Rainey
