Hello Bob; YES....I would love a copy or attachment of this. I will not post on WWW, I am just trying to get past my brick wall in NJ. There were two Brazillas & I am thinking that the elder one might be grandfather, uncle, etc. The only two clues I have so far for Barzillia's parentage is.....1st son named Charles (b. abt. 1842) & 1st daughter named Lucreita (b. abt 1843). I understand there was a Charles & a Lucreita in the area also. I also keep thinking that Harry Chambers John b. 1805 may be a brother to my Barzillia. Hope I haven't confused you with too much information. Thank you so much in advance. Carolyn [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected])

Hi, I'm still stumped on the ancestry of the James HORNER who died ca. 1807-1808 in Augusta Co., VA. We know that he md. Elizabeth BERRY, dau. of Bradley BERRY of Albemarle Co., VA and that there were other BERRYs in Albemarle Co., VA who were probably related. James and Elizabeth HORNER had at least two children: Isham and John. According to records, Isham was b. ca. 1798-1799 and, in 1817 (at age 14+) in Augusta Co., VA chose Michael CLINEDINST as his guardian. This Isham was related in some way to Lucinda HORNER (b. ca. 1812 in VA) who md. John GRASS/CRESS in Augusta Co., VA in 1832. These are my husband's ancestors. The Augusta Co., VA court orders state that Lucinda (b. ca. 1812) was the dau. of this Isham HORNER, but this must be an error as Isham would have been only about 14 when she was born. Samuel TROUT was named Lucinda's guardian and posted her marriage bond in Augusta Co., VA with John GRASS in 1832 when she md. John. Isham "may have been" the Isem/Isham HORNER who went to Greene Co., OH where he was a blacksmith and md. Jane SELDOMRIDGE, dau. of Baltzer SELDOMRIDGE and his wife Catherine LAUDERMILCH....who had also lived in Augusta Co., VA. Hope someone out there is doing research on this HORNER family. Dolores in CA
Horner Researchers: I also have a NJ HORNER that is my HORNER dead-end. John Henry HORNER was born October 12, 1812, in either Burlington County or Monmouth County, New Jersey. It is believed (not confirmed) that John's father was Charles HORNER and that his mother was Alice ---?---. Possible siblings of John Henry HORNER include Elizabeth, Anthony, Sarah, Charity, Barzellai, Caleb, Lucretia, Ann, Stillwell, and Mary. On July 11, 1835, John Henry HORNER married Elizabeth FORD in Burlington County, New Jersey. To this union the following five children were born: 1. Amos J. HORNER, born circa 1836 in New Jersey; married Sarah R. HICKS March 5, 1863, in Lake County, Indiana; died 1904 and buried in Kimball Cemetery, Liberty Township, Porter County, Indiana 2. Samuel HORNER, born February 21, 1839, in Burlington County, New Jersey; married Hannah HENRY June 12, 1862, in Porter County, Indiana; died July 12, 1909, in Center Township, Porter County, Indiana 3. Alice HORNER, born circa 1840 in New Jersey; married William Nathan KIPLING November 21, 1858, in Porter County, Indiana; died while giving birth on June 16, 1863, in Porter County, Indiana 4. Berzillia HORNER, born January 13, 1842, near Plymouth, Marshall County, Indiana; married Margaret J. COULTER March 24, 1892; died March 9, 1897, in Center Township, Porter County, Indiana 5. Mary Elizabeth HORNER, born 1852 in Porter County, Indiana; married Charles Edwin WEBB February 12, 1873; died 1894 in Porter County, Indiana. Elizabeth (FORD) HORNER died in 1852 in Porter County, Indiana. John Henry HORNER then married Sarah McNUTT on February 6, 1853, in Plymouth, Marshall County, Indiana. No children were born to this marriage and Sarah (McNutt) HORNER died in 1855 in Porter County, Indiana. John Henry HORNER's third wife was Sarah Ann ENGLISH, whom he married on November 3, 1855, in Marshall County, Indiana. Sarah was a widow, her first husband being John Malsbury FORD. There is probably a connection between John Malsbury FORD and John Henry HORNER's first wife Elizabeth FORD. John Henry and Sarah Ann (ENGLISH) HORNER had no children. It is believed that they divorced soon after their marriage - Sarah Ann (ENGLISH) HORNER then married a John RUNYON. John Henry HORNER's fourth and final wife wife Martha M. LEGGETT, whom he married on December 28, 1856, in Niles, Berrien County, Michigan. To this union the following three children were born: 1. Patience HORNER, born circa 1860 in Wisconsin; married Charles L. RAY July 2, 1883, in Porter County, Indiana (later married a McCOY sometime after Charles L. RAY died); died sometime after 1921. 2. Rose Anna HORNER, born August 2, 1865, in Porter County, Indiana; married Harry H. SALES December 9, 1889, in Cook County, Illinois; died February 4, 1928, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois 3. Sophronia Florence HORNER, born September 24, 1841, in Valparaiso, Porter County, Indiana; married Dr. John Clifton BIRD July 1, 1897, in Kenosha County, Wisconsin; died January 30, 1937, in Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois John Henry HORNER died on February 9, 1894, in Valparaiso, Porter County, Indiana, and is buried in Maplewood Cemetery in Valapraiso. I would like to communicate with anyone having connections to any person listed in this message. Also, I would very much like to communicate with anyone with FORD connections in New Jersey. Best regards, Steve Shook Moscow, Idaho

George married Maria Pearson 1843 Erpingham district probably Aldborough, Maria was older it seems than her hubby, born 1820 Colby. They have a few children with them including John in 1851 census. Listers, I have a 7 page extraction of the HORNER and BOWKER names from the existing tax lists of Burlington, County, NJ. Be glad to send an attached copy (if you contact me off-List), to anyone wanting. I just ask that this not be posted to the WWW. Listers, I feel like I stuck a stick in a hornets' [really HORNERs'] nest, and they all came out a "buzzin." I have many early NJ names, both in East and West New Jersey, and have done a lot of extracting of those names from many state and county records. My names in East Jersey include WOODMANSEE and in that branch, BOWKER, JEFFREY, and (I think) HORNER. My 3-great grandmother, Abigail BOWKER WOODMANSEE was the daughter of Samuel BOWKER and his wife Elizabeth HORNER. Abigail BOWKER and her husband migrated to Highland County, OH directly from Monmouth (now Ocean) County, NJ about 1820, with the rest of his family. That Samuel BOWKER's wife Elizabeth was named HORNER was originally based on a Lineage Society Application statement (only-no proofs). Recently, I found an 1816 Will and Codicil for a William HORNER in Burlington County (New Hanover Township), where Samuel BOWKER (and three prior generations of that BOWKER name; 1-Francis, 2-John, 3-William BOWKER) had been, before his wife Elizabeth and he moved over to Waretown/Wiertown in Monmouth County. The codicils (addendum) to that William HORNER Will names his brothers Richard and Samuel, and Samuel BOWKER/BOKER/BOGART (Elizabeth HORNER's? husband.) I truly hope that this 4 name grouping of HORNERs will be sufficient to lead me to that family, and hopefully their parents, though dates and ages are woefully lacking. Does anyone have a HORNER family, probably in Burlington County, NJ, with the children named William, Richard, Samuel and Elizabeth? Though the earliest HORNERs (early 1700's) from NY Island to New Jersey were Quakers, neither this family I search nor the BOWKERs show up in the Quaker records. Samuel BOWKER was a Revolutionary War Patriot, also indicating his leanings away from a peaceable Quaker. Can anyone help here? Thank you in advance for any consideration. To keep the Archives neat, I will post a separate offer and mention of a Barzilla HORNER. Robert A. "Bob" Fetters
Hi Everyone, I'm writing about my g-g-g-grandmother, SARAH JANE HORNER WILLIAMS. She was born in the state of Maryland in 1789. We don't know the names of her parents, and she died in 1865 in Carroll county, Ohio. She married John Williams my g-g-g-grandfather, in 1817 probably in Pennsylvania. This was John Williams second marriage, he first was married to a Mary Billingsley who died in child birth. Today, the Horner List has been busy, the first time in a long time. It's great to hear from Horner, and maybe I will find my g-g-g-grandmother's parents name, and where she lived. Thank you in advance. Carol McBain
I'm looking for John Horner born about 1805. He married Rachel Bowen and they lived in the Lower Alloway Creek area of Salem County, NJ. He may have remarried Elizabeth after Rachel's death around 1837 and moved across the river to Delaware. I'm looking for his parents names and his death date. Unfortunately there were many John Horners in South Jersey during that time period. Thanx for your help, Harry Chambers Pitman, NJ
Dear Bob & Horner group; We have been slow in our correspondance lately, for sure. I will put mine out there again in case we have some new research material. As far back as I can go....John Horner married Racheal ?_____. According to his son, Brazillia's marriage licence, his dad was from Ireland. I have a guess that they lived around Hornerstown. Brazillia (sp?) was born abt. 1814 in New Jersey He was my gg-grandfather & do not know who his siblings were. He married before 1841 (1) Elizabeth Lee (b. 1818) d/o Thomas Lee, in Burlington, NJ They moved to Indiana between 1847 && 1849. Bought land in 1850 in Brown Co., IN. Their 10 children were: Charles, Lucretia b. abt 1843; Abner; Brazilla L.; Gabreail Taylor b. 27 Oct 1847 (my g-grandfather) ; Eliz. Ann b. abt. Dec 1849; Calvin; Hannah; Samuel; Thomas. Elizabeth Lee Horner died January 1882 and that next December Brazilla married (2) Mary Ann Smith (Brinkley) on 27 Dec 1882. They were married about 10 years & he died on 1 May 1892 around age 78. Have more information if anyone thinks they can connect with me. Best regards, Carolyn Cowan Oberle from Florida [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected])

Bob, Go ahead and post your query. There are a number of us here who are descended from the New Jersey HORNERs. My dead end is a Jacob HORNER who married Lydia HURLEY on November 17, 1832, in Monmouth County. They lived in the Wall Twp. and Howell Twp. area. Their descendants later moved into the Monmouth Beach and West Long Branch areas. Today, the descendants of this couple are numerous and are spread out up and down the eastern seaboard, if not further. I have been collecting a lot of information on the earlier NJ HORNERs with the hope of someday linking up to one of them. Margaret > [Original Message] > From: Robert A. OK I'll kick some activity off on this list then. Searching for information on George Horner (B.Abt. 1822) in England. He was the Father of John Pearson Horner (B.29Oct1848) in Aldborough, England. George Horner married Maria Pearson ( B.Abt.1819) on 02May1843 in the Aldborough Church. Any help greatly appreciated. Holiday wishes to everyone. Warwick
