    2. Yes, Samuel and Lucindah were listed as Ishams parents. Which makes sense that they have a child named Lucy. I believe what was in question was the mother of Lucy. Esom is old enough to be her father but the wife listed later on was only ten years older. I may be wrong. But it is entirely possible that Lucy was Esoms sister. I don't know I need to look at it further. Will try to do that tomorrow. Did this Isham move to Knox Co., KY and is he the one in 1870 with the girl Lucy Ann? Since she was listed with Esom in 1850 as "idiot" maybe she then lived with her uncle after her father died due to never marrying - Charlotte was asking about this in 1870 - a Lucy Ann too old to be Isham's daughter l;sted with him in 1870 in KY?? She did not give Lucy Ann's age in 1870, though?? When you and Charlotte were writing about Isham earlier I never got the e-mail/post stating that Samuel had a son Isham and also one named Esom - did Isham's marriage record have his father's name? The fact that people from Surrey Co., NC as well as Patrick Co,VA witnessed the marriage of Isham shows there was a lot of "to-ing" and "fro-ing" across that border there between NC and VA. I feel that maybe that border was very fluid and that the people in Stokes Co., NC (Wm and his family) might have just sort of "slipped" back and forth - maybe without even changing their place of residence - maybe their land streched across the state line there?

    3. In 1850 Esom is 54 and his 1st wife, jenny is 55 - she is plently old enought to be Lucy Ann's mother. (Lucy is age 20 in 1850 on the census you sent me!!) I guess the "Isham" in 1870 is Esom, and, as Charlotte said, his 2nd wife was anmed Elizabeth! She is 20 yrs younger than Esom/Isham in 1870 so is not old enough to be Lucy's mom - Eliz. is Lucy's step mom!!!!!!! Jenny - deceased by 1870 was Lucy's mom. 3. Joyce, not even "replying" to your e-adress lets me get through, and your yahoo e-address also sends back the e-mails as unavailable/mailer deamon!!! You must have some sort of blocker that means you must have to have my e-address in your address book or it will not let my e-mails through - this info is is a "re-post" with comments that I do not want to post on the list. Also, the Esom you posted (several census postings)on Nov 6th (on the Hooker list) was living next to Samuel in Patrick Co.,VA in 1820 (Samuel was older than Esom and is thought to be his father) then Esom was in Washingotn Co.,TN in 1830 (near John b c 1797 in VA), then back in Washington Co.,VA in 1840, then in Clay Co., KY in 1850 married to Jenny all those times, it seems (you found and posted all these censuses on the list) - remember our long discussions about Jenny and her age, etc., as I could not view the whole census screen on my old computer? Charlotte recenlty posted a 1870 census listing of an "Isham" - we think it is really a mispelling this time of Esom as it is in Ky, and Isham (the VA one) has nver appeared in Ky that I know of????? Anyway in 1850 in Clay Co., KY, according to your post of Nov 6th, Esom and first wife - or at least first known wife - Jenny, had a daughter, Lucy Ann age 20, listed as "idiotic." In 1870 there is a Lucy Ann (in her 40s in 1870) also listed as "idiotic" listed with an "Isham" Hooker and wife Elizabeth in KY. This "Isham" is the age Esom would be in 1870 - age 74. Elizabeth was the name of the 2nd wife of Esom (she is listed as in her 50s in 1870 which would probably be right for a 2nd wife)- in this one instance I feel "Isham" is a mispelling of Esom. It appears there is another Isham who might be Esom's brother back in VA. There is a Samuel (older than Esom and probably his father) living by Esom in 1820 in Patrick Co.,VA - there is a Wm. on another page, not livng too nesr these other 2 Hookers in 1820 in Patrick Co.,VA - this Wm (b c 1755 in NC) is Jack Hooker's Wm who moved from NC into VA c 1808 and lived in Patrick Co., VA the rest of his life, but according to Jack this Wm was b NC (and this Wm's father was a Samuel in NC), possibly Stokes Co.,NC. This Wm's children included Gabriel and Jesse and a maybe a Samuel - and this Wm b c 1755 in NC also had a brother Samuel b c 1765 according to Jack Hooker. If you will unblock on of your e-addresses I will send you this info jack posted on the list in Sept. Celeste --- Jmw1431@aol.com wrote: > > Yes, Samuel and Lucindah were listed as Ishams > parents.
