    1. [HOOKER] Help! Rev Joseph Hooker descenants & DNA results
    2. Does anyone know where online I can find a list of this "other" documented line of Hooker in New England? I have googled and searched ship's logs from back in the 1600's and can't find him. Please someone help me out here. Our DNA results came back today and my brother's results matched the second cousin we had discovered who is a Hooker. So we are also definitely Hookers. Now if I can find out two things: 1. What line we are from. 2. Who is Stephen G. Hooker's parents? Are they Stephen Hooker b. 1787 and 1789 respectively.

    3. Have you Googled Rev Thomas Hooker of MA and searched Genforum,Ancestry, Genealogy, com and Rootsweb.com for him? And Joseph Hooker, the other MA line of whom some went to NY and ultimately to Oregon. Joseph is also originally of MA. The Hartford MA ones are from Rev Thomas Hooker and some of them moved to VT - you mentioned that some of yours were from VT. Have any of theese New Eng guys gotten DNA tests? Since lots is written on them maybe not many need to do this?? 1. [HOOKER] diff Hooker descenants & DNA testing
    2. Hi Celeste and the rest of the list. Yes I have checked all those places and, for instance, Rootsweb has at least 100 if not 200 Rev. Thomas family trees and each one is just for that specific persons relation to them, if that. Mainly just all repeats of Rev Thomas from England married to Sarah Garabrand. Over and Over. And the book by Edward Hooker that everyone says is so complete is basically just about Rev. Thomas' grandson John's descendants through his father Samuel. Nothing else about any of the other sons' families. I was sent a Joseph Hooker one that was more complete than anything I had seen but it doesn't fit us at all. I'm sure we are from Rev. Thomas but am just trying to fine tune the exact connection. What I find interesting is that my husband is descended directly from Rev. John Lathrop/Lowthrop who founded Barnstable, MA and was very famous just like Rev. Thomas Hooker. That family has a complete book that is done through my husband's grandfather's generation and has every branch in it from every son on down. Seems someone could do that for the Rev.Thomas Hooker line. They are in the process of updating it. People seem to only want to list their own little branch. In my Hooker tree I am listing everyone as much as I can find. I've even started doing the Beardsley family tree for my new second cousin as his mother was a Beardsley. I'm going to be working with the Hooker family DNA testing website and I'd really like to encourage all of you, especially the Southerners who say they are having a real hard time figuring it all out, to have the test done. You get a discount if you do it through the Hooker Project. It finalized it all for me and my brothers and we know positively that we are Hookers by blood now. Why not have a brother, father, uncle, male cousin who has the last name of Hooker take the test. Get a group from your family of the guys and have them done or you different families do it and find out if you are connected. In fact, over half of the men who have done the test so far are from the Southern families. You may never find out and by doing this, the odds are you will find something out. If anyone wants to know more about it, jusgt email me at: linda.lathrop@yahoo.com Thanks, Linda Lathrop nee Hooker ---- Adella Holly <adellaholly@yahoo.com> wrote: ============= Have you Googled Rev Thomas Hooker of MA and searched Genforum,Ancestry, Genealogy, com and Rootsweb.com for him? 3. Folks, I totally agree with Linda on this. The HOOKER surname DNA project needs additional participants. http://www.worldfamilies.net:80/surnames/h/hooker/ Researchers of this surname will find the DNA results very helpful with their brick wall lines. The results aren't going to actually *name* your elusive ancestor, but will show you which lines you genetically match or don't match, so you can concentrate your genealogical research in the right direction. FTDNA, the testing company associated with the Hooker surname DNA project, presently has a Holiday Gift Certificates promotion for new participants: http://www.worldfamilies.net/ This sure would be a great Christmas present!
