    3. Yes, the CT Hooker line was documented in a 1909 book by a very thorough Hooker descendant, Cmdr. Edward Hooker. A fairly easy way to tell if you're likely to have come from that line is to trace back to the Rev War, if possible, then take a look at the names of the "Founding Families" of Hartford. If you have ancestors with a preponderance of those surnames at that point in time, then you're probably from the CT line. It's not scientific, but it's a pretty good gauge. They were a very tight lot--didn't marry out of the group much at all, even after they migrated to VT, etc. Maureen -----Original Message----- From: hooker-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:hooker-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Adella Holly Sent: Tuesday, November 27, 2007 8:44 PM To: hooker@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [HOOKER] Atten Linda L. and Maureen I found an e-mail from you about the finding the century that someone is connected. There is one site - which I cannot find again - where it tells how to tell the century by the # by which one is separated. I think when Tony and Tom first found thisinfo on their matches one of them told me, but I also read it on one of the DNA sites. Maureen, I never got the first post you sent to this list but saw it below on Linda's post. Most CT Hookers are from Rev Thomas aren't they. That line is well documented in books, etc. Celeste --- Linda Lathrop <linda.lathrop@yahoo.com> wrote: > Is there a pedigree online anhywhere for Joseph > Hooker's family? > > Does anyone know of one? > > Linda Lathrop > > > > The reason it's mostly southerners that query on the > list is because the > northern families are very well documented.
