Thomas in MA/CT was a Rev.; there were some other Revs in the line, but the Joseph who came later than Rev Thomas and claimed to be distantly related to Rev Thomas was the Joseph in that book, as I have stated several times. The story about the indenture is in that book!! I thought I had written that info about him coming over under indenture before, but it is all in that book. The book follows the line that goes west to Oregon - do not know if it tells all Joseph's descendants, but I do know there is lots done on-line on "fighting" Joe (Joseph Hoooker) which is also that line, I believe. I did see something on the VT Hookers the other day - if I see that again I will note where I saw it. Thought you had found/discovered a lot on your line recently?? Celeste, I get the feeling that I am annoying you with my questions. If that is the case, I am sorry. Yes, I have made some advances in my line but do not know where my line comes from past a certain point. And as we all know, sources are one of the most important parts of our search and the "original source" of where we originate is the most important to most of us. I don't remember you ever telling me about that book. I have heard about it before and maybe it was you. I don't know. Back in November you said that in the past the list had discussed Joseph Hooker but that that was probably before I joined. But, I just get the feeling here that this list should be called the Southern Hooker Lines as that seems to be all that is discussed. I know there are some people on this list from Northern Hooker lines. Perhaps there needs to be a separate list for those from all other lines but the Southern which I am assuming is from Jamestown. I am not trying to cause any problems or arguments here. I just am looking for help on the "Hooker" list. If there were other "Hooker" lists I would be asking there also. Is there a way to search the archives for those discussions you said the list had on Joseph Hooker's line? Is there any way that we could do a poll or have members post as to whether their line is from the North or the South? It would be helpful to know. (yikes, sounds like the Civil War! LOL) Thank you. Well ,what do you do, as our Hookers may be from the North ,But we Married in to Hookers and family from KY. George
Yes, I did tell you about the book some time ago, and no, all questions are welcome. One must follow through with the suggestions that are made. Yes, the archives of this list are accessible on Rootsweb; go to "mail lists" and "archives," and they are listed by year, etc. But lots has been posted on Joseph Hoker on the other free sites such as Genforum and Rootsweb "trees" - I think that is called World Connect. Also, some things can be found free on genealogy.com and even some things are free on Ancestry.com. As I have siad before some public libraraies have access to Ancestry.com for their patrons; check the ones around you. Eventually, if we ever get back to Eng. on this list/our lines we will all probably be connected - as it is we are all stalled somewhere after arriving in this country. Many of us have been working for yrs and still are just back to the late 1700s/with proof, so one has to be patient and keep working oneself on whatever one can find in libraries and on-line. The interchange is good, but one has to do a lot of looking besides on this list!!
