Jane--The late Percy H. Hooker of Durham, NC, was a direct descendant of William Hooker III, through his son Heymrick Hooker. I have a copy of a chart which he prepared which shows the line from William I down to Percy. Percy was not certain who William III married. He included in parentheses Mary Heymrick, but adds a question mark. Percy lists the following children of William III.--- l. Heymrick, I, m. lst-Elizabeth Phillips; 2nd-Sallie Lassiter. 2. Mary, m. -----------Pope. 3. William IV, m. Laney Harper. 4. Nathan. 5. James--Percy adds "William Hooker III probably had a son by this name." In the next generation Percy has--- Heymrick Hooker, m. lst-Elizabeth Phillips; 2nd-Sallie Lassiter Children: lst marriage: l. John, b. l780; d. Sept. ll, l8ll, never married. 2. William, b. ca. l783; d. ca. l842. 3. Heymrick, Jr., b. l787; d. July 2l, l822, never married. 4. Thomas, b. Feb. l2, l789; Oct. 2, l846. 5. Nathan, b. Dec. l5, l793; d. Jan. 5, l848, m. Julia Ann Wright. This Nathan is Percy Hooker's line. 2nd marriage: 6. Mary, m. John Rogers Thomas, l8l4. Jane, I'll be happy to send you a complete copy of Percy's chart. Just send me your mailing address. You will note that Percy does not list a wife for Nathan, son of William III, but we know, from other research, that Nathan's wife was Ann Lackey. I also have a copy of a genealogical report prepared by a Charles Holloman in l98l. The report was prepared for a descendant of Nathan and Ann (Lackey) Hooker. Holloman establishes the connection from William III to Nathan. This Nathan moved to GA in the l790s and later to Mississippi. Holloman also brings up an interesting point. He discounts the story that William III's wife was a ------------Heymrick. He cites the will and estate papers of Heymrick Hooker, I's father-in-law, John Phillips, Sr. In these papers, Phillips' apparently refers to his son-in-law, Heymrick as Ahimerlick or Ahimerick. Holloman states that the name Hymerick "was unique with the first Hymerick who was son of William Hooker III." I'll also be happy to send you a copy of the Holloman report.
