Anne-Just read your Hooker marriages from AL, GA, and SC. I noticed you had included the marriage of my 3great-grandfather Capt. Wm. B. Hooker to Mary A. (Hair), in l830 as from the "Southern Christian Advocate." Your message gives the impression that this was a South Carolina marriage. However, Wm. B. Hooker and Mary A. Hair were married in Hamilton Co., Florida, in l830. The "Southern Christian Advocate" was a Methodist publication which included news about Methodists throughout the states of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida ( and possibly other Southern states). So simply because a marriage or obituary is cited from the "Southern Christian Advocate" does not and should not imply that the event occurred in South Carolina.
