    3. Hi Phil and the Hooker List: I found a little blurb of a Pottawattamie County Bio on a NE/KS site. It was for J D Hooker in 1891 Macedonia Township Pottawattamie County Iowa. I check the book that this bio came from and there was a whole page on him. J D Hooker was also listed in the 1882 Pott county Bio's with a brother A R Hooker. The Bio in 1891 stated that JD was related to General Fighting Joe Hooker. J D and A R Hooker's parents were M H Hooker and Nancy Palmeter both of New York. JD was born in Chautauqua County New York July 10, 1837 according to the 1891 Bio The family was of English ancestry, and desendants of two brothers, who where among the early emigrants of to the northeastern States. the parents reared a family of ten children. The fathere was born in 1810, and came to Iowa , settling in Delaware County in 1854. He lived there until his death which took place in March 1874. Myron Hooker born July 10,1837 died March 1837. JD Hooker worked in a saw-mill in Pennsylvania, having been brought up in the lumber regions of southern New York. He came to Iowa in the spring of 1855. He remained here for 5 years then bought a farm in Delaware County, Iowa which he sold in 1869. He then began Veterinary studies. He moved to Webster County, south of Fort Dodge, where he live for two year, and in May 1871, first came to Pott county. He was married in Delaware County Iowa July 10 1861 to Miss T J Wilson. J. D. and T J Hooker had nine children: J. M. Hooker, C. M. Hooker, Edward D. Hooker, James D. Hooker, Jenny L. Hooker, Lewis J. Hooker, Shockey E. Hooker, Jennie E. Hooker and Frederick S. Hooker. They lost one child Leander Vern when he was 2 1/2 years old. 1882 The 1882 Bio on J D Hooker says about the same info, except that J D's father was unfornate in the lumber business, losing his property, with the exception of that in Delaware County, which he had purchased before engaging in the lumber trade. While in Cincinnati Ohio, he recieved an injury by a fall, from which he never fully recovered. A R Hooker Was born May 1 1851 in Gerry, Chautauqua County NY , his father was , Myron Hooker born Nov 4, 1809 in Allegany County NY. Came to Delaware County Iowa in 1856, where he died March 4, 1873. His mother Nancy Palmeter was born March 19 , 1816 in Farmington, Ontario County NY. She lives with our subject, and is the mother of ten children, four of whom are dead. A R Hooker married Nov 23, 1878 at Watson MO to Lizzie M. Folts. She was born in Oneida County NY Mr and Mrs Hooker have two children Emma L. Hooker and Crete Hooker. J D Hooker stands for James Dewey Hooker. The Bio stated they were related to "Fighting General Joe Hooker", so I thought since he is in my line and JD and AR Hooker are in my neck of the woods that I would check it out. I have been to Carson Cemertery before. There are alot of Hooker's there. I was there about a year ago and didn't find any connection to my line at the time. Looks like maybe there might be one. Does anyone have any information on the above Hooker's that may fit into your lines, maybe when the Bio information was taken they were going on an old family story of the general.
