The Hooker family I am researching is in NC also and came (I believe ) from the Chowan/Bertie Co. area but came on to Old Dobbs (actually now Greene) about 1778.(I could be mistaken about this date, it's from memory) William is the third in line of that name and had son Hymerick (spelled all sorts of different ways) I know this to be fact as they are on a tax list. But many other things are not so factual. Guess we are in minority, seems everyone is looking for IL or IN Hookers and some of these may have gone there too. They seem to disappear from this area of NC. DAR applications have some going there and may have but they have them with wrong Mother.
