Jane--There is a will in Tyrrell Co., NC for one Isaac Alexander, dated Oct. 28, l777. He mentions sons Joseph, Anthony, John, and Joshua. Daughters--Mary Norman, Ann Hooker, and Sarah Alexander. The reference to Ann Hooker reads "to the heirs of my daughter Ann Hooker, deceased one ewe to be divided among them" Witnesses-John Bateman and Jesse Bateman. Executors, sons John and Joshua Alexander. Also, there is a deed in Tyrrell Co., Book 4, pt. 2, p. 37, Nathan Bateman, Sr., to Stephen Hooker, Jr., Dec. l3, l765. l5 pounds. 50 acres on west side of Scuppernong river, joining Tarr Landing, Isaac Alexander. Witnesses: John Hooker, Nancy Bateman, Anne Hooker. Do you think this Anne Alexander Hooker could be the second wife of Sheriff John Hooker? She was dead by l777, so she couldn't be the same Ann who is listed as the wife of John Hooker in the l790 Tyrrell Co. will. Sheriff John's first wife, Elizabeth Mary Swain, was reportedly deceased by Aug. l765, according to the Swain genealogy. Kyle
