I'm new to the HOOKER list, and hopeful that other members may have information on the HOOKER family in VA/NC. My information suggests that Margaret HOOKER married Isaac LEWIS. I don't have details about Margaret, but I believe that Isaac died in 1742 in Bertie County, NC. I believe that Margaret's father was William HOOKER. There are some researchers who have suggested that William was the son of Samuel HOOKER, and that he was born in Farmington, CT. I'm quite skeptical about this, although there were a number of migrations from New England to the south. My research of Farmington HOOKERS indicates that William died in CT. Its possible the CT record is incorrect. For instance, William may have abandoned his family to come south, and was simply recorded as being dead. Again, this seems unlikely. Is anyone tracking HOOKERS in VA or NC in the 1600s? Can anyone identify a William who may have migrated to NC? My information suggests he may have died about 1716 in NC, but I have no documentation to confirm this. I'd love to hear from anyone researching early VA or NC HOOKERS. I'd be happy to share what information I do have. Gordon Kirkemo [email protected]
