    3. Jackie, My last Hooker was Phillip Augustus Hooker (b. 1839, Paxton, MA), the son of Harvey Hooker and Isabella P. Brown. Harvey was a lush and Isabella divorced him, remarried and in about 1849 moved to Sauk Co. WI with her new husband Orison Thomas. "Gus" took his stepfather's name even though he was never adopted. After the Civil War Gus had corresponded with a Hooker uncle, an M.D. who had begged Gus to take back the Hooker name. Gus said that he had married as a Thomas and fought for his country as a Thomas so he would just keep the Thomas name. This Dr. Hooker also had two sons who were medical doctors, but I don't know who they were. I have his lineage back to Henry Hucker who married in 1708 in Boston. Thirty years ago there was a man who lived in BC, Canada, who was doing extensive Hooker research....way before computers. I corresponded with him for several years and then he became ill and died of cancer. I don't know what became of his research. I think his name was Arthur Hooker. Has anyone out there run across anything of his? Carole <<Carole, you wouldn't happen to be related to the HOOKERS that were in or around Seattle in the 1974 time frame would ya? Or the ones in Willows ranch California 1950, Prineville Oregon 1960 on? Jackie >>
