    3. Congratulations on your HOOKER breakthrough, Linda. My HOOKER line, (George, b. 1787 in NC), is definitely Southern but my husband has a GOSS line that could originate in the North. Would love to see the GOSS members buried in the Pine Hill Cem. It could be interesting to see where it leads. 1. [HOOKER] updates on my northern Hookers, cemeteries and other related items.
    2. I believe it has been thought that the Buffalo St. Presbyterian Cemetery in Gowanda, NY, which had alot of Hookers buried there, including my gggggrandparents, had been plowed under. Well, my brother has been in touch with the Cattaraugus County Museum and found out that they have records showing that the bodies were moved from the Buffalo St. cemetery to the Pine Hill Cemetery up the road. I have a list of the Hookers that are buried there along with wives and parents related by marriage to the Hookers such as Goss and Seitz. This was good news for me because I was able to identify the three small children that were buried in the same plot as my Stephen Hooker Sr and Abigail Goss Hooker who are my Stephen G. Hooker's parents. They are the children of Harry Newell Hooker and Julia Ward Hooker. So if those names are familiar to anyone, pls contact me. Harry and Julia are both buried at Pine Hill also. I also found out that Stephen Hooker Sr's first wife was: Anna Woodward. He had two small sons with her that both died and are buried with Daniel Hooker in Brandon, Vt. His second wife was Abigail Goss and they had six children...one being, I believe,my ggggrandfather Stephen G Hooker. His third wife was Anna Carpenter and they had one son, Otis Walker Hooker. I have copies of both Stephen's and Anna Carpenter's wills. I had kept thinking this last Anna was Stephen Sr's daughter because one of the census records show him living with her and his daughter Emma who was 19. But after reading the wills, I knew the truth. I have also been finding more Hookers that are all connecting to my line...cousins, etc. So if anyone has Hookers in NY or VT or IL they are looking for, I might know of them. Talk about exciting stuff. Has anyone else had any breakthroughs at all? I'm thinking of writing this all out in an article and submitting it to Ancestry for their magazine. Talk about a wild and crazy ride I have had for almost a year now. Happy hunting, Linda Hooker/Farrell Lathrop

    3. 1> WE have a book that was written about that wagon train group, with William Smith to Indiana Clay Co. Where people all went to clay co ,and Vigo Co. in 1835. I have read the book in 10 years. as I was doing my Father side back to 1700 Germany. 2. On working on my great, great, greatfaher, Riley Hooker, we find that his Father was George Hooker. And he had two sisters in the report of June 13th,1837 as Nelson Butler guardianship of in Washington County: Polly(Mary)Hooker Elizabeth Hooker and Riley Hooker also in the report was Settler, George Hooker b New Hampshire, entered Lawrence Co, IN 1820 and settled in Bono township. Land near corner of Lawrence, Washington and Orange. George Hooker?s family have been traced with ancestors and descendants ? no mention of Riley and his sisters. George later moved to Clay County. 3. As you can see, this is a real tie of Riley Hooker and George Hooker. As we have every thing from that Date. (Almost) and as John and Riley Hooker went on to the War and Married. in Vigo Co. BUT: Jhon K. Hookers says: John K Hookers death certificate He died Feb 27,1926 in Nevins Township. He lived in Ehrmandale,Ind. He is buried in Harpold Cemetery. He died of ( Cerebral Hemorrhage) brain stoke. He was 65 age old. He was born August 29,1860 in Indiana Father and Mother Riley Hooker born in Kentucky Armina Wiggle born in Kentucky 4. Strange, But as we this thing saying that George Hooker Went to Clay Co,And we have a Clay Co. Indiana (And where all out Hooker lived. And a Clay Co Ky. where Riley married Armina Wiggle from Ky. 5. WE have on My mother side, a brother's son "Clarence Andrew Hooker jr." living in MD. Plus he have a son. also we have a Dennis Hooker liveing in Fla. he also has a son. there arew the last that I know, unless Penny in Andiana knows of more,As her knows more than me. 6. Did you Ever hear of A Milton in a Name? as my greasfther was : "George Washington Milton Hooker" Later

But we have a very rich history of hookers and as our tree on the Hooker side stated with the a Wagon train from Ky. to Indiana in 1835. William Smith's group. It was just that we thought that Riley's Father(George) was from KY. until we got that report from Lawrence Co. and It said that George was a settler, named: George Hooker b New Hampshire, entered Lawrence Co, IN 1820.

    3. Hi George, I was told that this Group is for "all" Hookers, no matter where in the World you are from. My line comes from the North also. Have you thought about doing a DNA test to see exactly where you fit in? That is what I and my brother did, as you need a living male Hooker to take the test. I am the new Hooker Family Project Administrator for Worldfamilies Network that works with Family Tree DNA for thousands of family surnames. If you sign up through the group you get a discount on the test price.
