Hi Hal, Elma and the HOOKER list: Just read your post on Samuel HOOKER and I was wondering in your searches for Smuel Hooker if you had run across a Samuel HOOKER born about 1851. He would have been considerably younger than your Samuel but my Samuel was the first child of Henry Broadway and Matilda Jeffcoat Hooker and was probably born in either Columbia or Richmond County Georgia. He had two brothers and two sisters : Arrenna who married Alex Wren; Barnette who married Ida Hickman; Ervin (my grandfather) who married Guelma Gleaton and Mary Idella who married William Henry Burch. If you run across anything at all on this Samuel I sure would appreciate you sharing it with me. All that I have on Samuel is his approximate date of birth. Thanks, Al Hooker [email protected]

Yo, cousin Elma Thanks for the reply, have not heard from Sweeney. I have roughly the same back- ground information on SAMUEL that you do. - I have his wife as MARY BLANCHARD, I have not researched the BLANCHARDS yet. - do you have a copy of SAMUEL'S will, Oct 1, 1822 or know where I can find it. - I have his children as follows: - Do not have SAMUEL'S father, but have corresponded with some who believe that JAMES is his father and not STEPHEN as is recorded on the group tombstone at Hookerton. - Will dig up any additional facts and send them along, I appreciate your help and any additional information you might share. Nice to find a cousin every once in a while. Hal Jordan
Sorry, for my previous mail message. I forgot to put the address before I hit the send button. Libweb - Libraries on the Web . Don I thought that I would share with the following site. Some libraries have their card catalog on-line. It may help shorten your search if you plan to pop in on a library in a town that you want to visit and hoping that they may have a book. The Rio Grande Valley Library ABQ, NM) system has a genealogy library - it is small but it has more books that the Texas State Library at Austin, Texas. The Texas State Library has more books under a specific surname. Don ([email protected])

Hi Folks, I am continuing to work up the Hooker Families web site. I am currently going through the old Hooker mail list messages and making up a list of researchings with links to their notes on the family they are researching. I am also building web pages out of any content that was sent to the list that seems useful. I am retaining the identity of the submitter as you can see if you go to the web site. You might want to check out the web page and see if I have put you on it. If you want to be removed just send me an email and I will take you off. If you want to change the contents of the link next to your name please do the same but kindly keep any content you send me to a page or two at most, I have limited web space. I have a 100 or more messages remaining to go through so it will probably take me a week or so to organize it all and As I build the researchers list I will try to organize it a little so it is easier to scan through. I will probably sort it by geographical region. If you think you have any thing additional to contribut to the apage please feel free to send it to me. I would like to build a site that would be useful to anyone researching the HOOKER name patrick (grandson of Amy Hooker)
Hi Cousins, I started this Hooker list several months ago and was trying to let it build a little before getting into more work, but I put a fledgling little Webpage together in support of it at : Hooker Families It is mostly just a skeleton right now but with your assistance we can put some meat on it. Right now I need two things. 1) the addresses of any other good HOOKER family web sites to link to. and 2) if you would like to be listed on the researchers page send me an email with a page about the family that you are researching and I will add you to the researchers list with a link to the notes you send (please keep them to a page). I intend to go back through the 174 messages that have been posted to the list and see what I can construct in the way of additional material for the web page. Searching for information on the John Hooker family in the 1790's who had at least 2 daughters in Bedford Co, TN: Mary Ann and Sarah Adeline Hooker. Mary Ann, b. 1819, married Thomas Sumners in Talladega Co, AL in 1854 and Sarah Adeline, b. 1826 in TN, married John T Baird in Talladega Co, AL in 1847. Any help on this family would be appreciated. Cal Campbell
I don't have anything specific on your Hookers but they are descendants of Thomas Hooker if there is a Riverious among them. There is a little information on them in the book about the other Hookers of Saratoga County, the descendants of Joseph Hooker. Off the top of my head I think Riverius was in Vermont. I can check it later if you'd like. I know that the subject of Riverius Hooker is dealt with in the old book on the descendants of Thomas Hooker. You might want to check with the NEHGS library re. the availability og information on that line. Joan Hersey Olsson
Hi, I come down from a John HOOKER, b. 1792 PA m. Rachel LOVELESS in Jefferson Co. AL 1-2-1825. Anyone else come across him? Devin Lindsey
I'm in search of information of the ancestry of the Elizabeth Hooker who married Henry Loop, probably about 1801 in Stillwater, Saratoga County, New York. Elizabeth was also the widow of a man named Aldrich. Children of Elizabeth Hooker and Henry Loop included John, Henry, Riverious, Rodolphus, Almond, Daniel, Norris, Elizabeth, Harriet, Aby, Ainsley and Willis, all born between 1802 and 1825. Elizabeth was probably part of several Hooker families out of Windham County, Vermont. These families included Gilbert Hooker, Ira Allen Hooker and Riverious Hooker. Ira might have been a brother of my Elizabeth; however, I am familiar with the siblings of Ira Allen Hooker and do not know of an Elizabeth. One of Ira's sisters - Anna married Andrew Loop. Does anyone know about Elizabeth Hooker Loop? Regards, Tom Hooker
Recently in a transcript of the 11 April 1765 Pennsylvania Gazette, Capt. Philip HOOKER was mentioned in a news release as having sailed out of Portsmouth, NH at some time in the past and then returned during a terrible storm only to have his Brig shipwrecked near Portsmouth. Was this Phillip HOOKER the same Philip (b 1717) the son of Henry HOOKER (HUCKER-HACKER) and Elizabeth HILLIARD (HELYER)? Where was Phillip from, and was he related in any way to Henry? Is anyone out there working on either of these lines? Thanks, Carole in Oregon
I don't have Cyprian HOOKER in my data base, but I do have an Olive, and her siblings Elizabeth and John Parker HOOKER, all a generation earlier than the Parker HOOKER that you mention. I am descended through this John Parker's nephew, another John Parker HOOKER, born 1770 in Worcester Co., MA. I'm sure they are all connected through Henry Hooker, 2nd and his wife, Mary Parker. Is anyone else working on this HOOKER/PARKER connection, or the descendants of Henry HOOKER, 1st? I am looking for parents and siblings of James George Hooker. He was born June 16, 1764 in Henrico County, VA. He died 1855 in Shelby County TN. He married Mary Powell of Amherst County, VA in 1811. Their children were George, Jim, Jane, Edd, Martha, Parmetta, Betty, William Powell Hooker Sr., and Thomas Benton Hooker. If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Joyce Hooker Wright

I am particularly interested in the information which ties the Hooker's to Anne Arundel CO, MD. My grandmother was Lillie Ann Hooker, daughter of John Willis Hooker b 1857 who m Lettice/Elizabeth Duncan/Dunkin b 1848 Monroe CO, TN. John Willis was son of John C. Hooker b ca 1810 MD who married in NC Rachel GREEN b 1830. My mother's father was James Preston Watkins who married Lillie Ann Hooker. I have researched the Watkins line far more extensively than that of the Hookers, but it appears that the Watkins originated (after migration through VA and the Carolinas) in Anne Arundel CO, MD! There is also Quaker influence in this Watkins line. James Preston Watkins' parents were William Douglas Watkins who married Nancy Brown (nee Ekin/Akin) Hart. William's parents were William Watkins b 1805 who m Margaret Byerley, dau of Gasper Byerley of sC and wife Mary MOORE. If any of these Watkins or Hooker notes look familiar, I'd love to have your input. Obviously, I would be interested in hearing of any Watkins notes in your files...or any of these other related surnames. If you can nail down my MD Hooker line to Anne Arundel CO, it would be a marvelous discovery. Researchers in MD tell me that my Watkins are desc. from a HALL/BELL/Watkins connection there, but I have yet to prove it. If you have any Maryland Hooker ties or questions, it is also likely that I can help with related surnames. I have files of many old Maryland/VA lines. Doris in Charlottesville, VA
