I am desc. of the following Hooker line and we have evidence that they originated in Maryland, married in NC, and moved to E TN by mid 1800's. An application for restitution for damage done by the Union Army during the Civil War states that this man was born in Maryland. I wish I knew where....I am studying other lines who are from NC and have found that many, many of them originated in Maryland, which gave lands in NC for service done during the Rev. War. This John C. HOOKER and Rachel GREEN are buried near Loudon, TN, with only upturned and unmarked stones which often fall down. Our family just gathered money to place an appropriate stone on their graves so that future generations will know who lies buried there. Charlotte, it could be that James is the son of one of the William Hookers or one of the brothers in NC. The Hookers had been living in the northern part of the state for many years by 1827. I'll see if I can find some info that looks helpful for that time period. You might try some census records from Bertie County, Tyrell County, Hereford County, etc in NC. I'm still trying to find some records of James and Jemima in Franklin Cnty, KY. All the records I've found after they left there in 1834 says the same thing. That Robert, Nancy and Wm were born there and James was from NC and Jemima from VA. That's it, nothing more. I think I need to write for some records in whatever county is where Franklin use to be. I can't find anything on the WEB but still struggling. Please keep my name and I'll do the same incase we are connected in some way. Hello Charlotte, Do you have any information before James Hooker b. 1827? My James M. Hooker had a son William that was born 1830 in KY and a lot of your names coinside with mine after that time. My problem is before 1830 I just can't find out who James' parents were -- all I know is he was born in NC James' wife was Jemima Catherine and went by Catherine. I am trying to complete some genealogical research on my gg-grandmother; Delana Elizabeth Harris Hooker, born 21 Oct. 1841 in Liberty County, Georgia. She married Thomas Heymerick Hooker in Liberty County around 1860 and died in Wayne County, Georgia (probably Gardi) in 1882. Her mother's name may have been Ann and she may have had siblings named Fatama Harris and James Harris. Delana (probably went by Elizabeth) may be listed on a Liberty Co. 1850 census as a child with only her mother listed as head of household. Thomas and Delana Elizabeth had ten children; Sara A., Julie, Julia, Thomas Heymerick, Jr., Mary E., Joseph J., William F., James Henry, Travis Edward (my g-grandfather) and Charles Ohagen "Todd." Most of the children moved to Oregon and the Pacific Northwest following their parents death. I am anxious to find Delana Elizabeth's parents names and continue researching the Harris family. My mistake, that should teach me to try to help off the top of my head. It was Bedford Co. TN. I can find no reference to the aforementioned William. Lorenzo was b. 8-12-1834 Bedford Co. TN. Died 1-9-1928 Wentworth, Newton Co MO. He married Alee Roxilda Jamison in MO. I am presuming that Newton is the County, it is not specified in my files. This is not my line, but I still think that William Jackson was somehow connected. Sorry for the confusion about Bradley/Polk/Bedford Co. Joyce

He was a farmer from Dalton, GA (Whitfield County) and married Martha Ann Hayes. He was born 5-16-1886 in Dalton, GA. and died 11-14-1972 in Hayti, MO. He somehow managed to make it to Randolph County Arkansas and married Ina SHEPPARD on February 5, 1908 in Supply, AR. She was born 7-13-1891 in Randolph Co. AR and died 6-15-1977 in Herman, MO. Her father was Eliza Green Sheppard and her mother was Martha Ann MASON. Andrew and Ina had the following children: Henry Paul Hooker(my grandfather) Irvin Hooker Johnny Lee Hooker Elijah Jackson Hooker Henry Paul Hooker was born 9-19-1908 in Randolph Co.
