    1. Re: General Joe and Henry Hooker
    2. Here is the General's Genealogy. The source is: Homes of the Massachusetts Ancestors of Maj. Gen. Joseph Hooker by Isaac P. Gragg. Published in 1900. I got it from a Dorothy Russell of the Hadley Massachusetts Historical Society in 1987. I am sorry though, with a few exceptions, it is only the direct line of the General. I am sending it here exactly as I received it. I do not know whether the b. stands for birth or baptism. Maybe birth because bapt. is written throughout the transcription. I have done my best to avoid typographical errors and to send it to the list exactly as Mrs. Russell wrote it in her letter to me. Joyce Hooker Wright 1. Joseph Hooker of Wenham, MA m. 3. We are trying to find the immigrant ancestors of Henry Hooker, b. ca 1683, and of General Joseph Hooker of Civil War fame. We have found no reliable connection to Rev. Thomas Hooker of Hartford CT. Is it possible that General Joe and Henry have the same roots? Does anyone out there have the good General's ancestry? Carole in Portland, OR

    3. That is interesting. I do thank you for sharing. I've about decided that Miranda Hooker was not related to Joseph Hooker. However I've come up some new leads as to who she may related to besides me! :) Thanks to every one! Mary [email protected] wrote: > There are no girls at all in the next generation back. > > Joyce

    3. Hey! You're right. Thanks for the info. I was sent a newspaper article about Joe Hooker and some one had written "mom's cousin" on it. Maybe I need to go back a generation? Do you know who his parents were? I found a date of birth for Miranda - May 1835 m. to Eli Moore on July 22, 1851 in New Philadelphia, PA. Thank You once again, Mary Libeer wrote: > Here are the siblings of Gen. Joseph Hooker. This is from the Hadley > Historical Society. > > Joseph Hooker m. (1)Nancy Spear > Children > Ruth bapt. 2. Lee
    3. Huldah Hooker was born about 1776 in Burlington, VT. Her death is estimated between 1810-1870. She married Barnabus Beach (and here I believe the date is incorrect) 1810-1845, but since they had children older than that date I believe it was an error in information. Barnabus Beach was born April 19, 1779 in Burlington, VT and died between 1810-1870. The three children listed are: Happylona Beach; 1784-1809 estimated birthdate Elmina Lucina Beach; 1799 and Hiram Beach; September 1800. They are on the Family Tree Maker volume #2. 3. I am sending this email to several lists so if I have duplicated to anyone I apologize, just use the delete key please!! Rarely do I have an opportunity to "give back" to those people who so very generously have helped me over the past few years in my search for my family. I have come into possession of 2 books which may or may not be able to help others in their search. So, I am offering to do lookups for anyone who would like the books searched for their family. All I ask is that you be patient because I work outside the home 8 hours a day and my online time is limited to after work and weekends. But I do promise I will get back to everyone who asks. The books I have are as follows: "Christian Index Obituaries" Published by "The Christian Index" Compiled by Mary McKeown Overby for The Georgia Baptist Historical Society Depository, Macon GA I have 2 books, the first one covers the years 1822-1879 and was compiled by Ms. Overby in 1975. The second book covers the years 1880-1899 and was compiled by Ms. Overby in 1982. These books have many, many surnames in them. As a matter of fact, the entire 260 pages in one book and 263 pages in the other contains nothing but lists of names. Hope no one is offended by this post. Sincerely, Brenda Wilkins Hudson
