    1. [HOOKER] Gilbert Hooker
    2. Hi, I am interested in the family of Gilbert Hooker, born to Hezekiah Hooker in CT about 1758. He married Rebecca Andrews and was living at Stillwater, NY around 1800. Later moved to Galen, Wayne Co., NY where he died in 1849. Edward Hooker's book on the descendants of Rev. Thomas Hooker gives the children of Gilbert and Rebecca, but not included is Gilbert Jr., living near Gilbert Sr. at Stillwater in the early 1800s. I suspect that Gilbert Sr. was previously married to someone before Rebecca, having Gilbert Jr. and other children in the 1780s. Can anyone help? Regards,Tom Hooker

    2. Ed Hooker
    3. I hope someone will able to assist me. My name is William Edward Hooker, III (b. 12/02/1969) I am the son of William Edward Hooker, Jr. (b. 5/10/44) and Sallie Ruth Lide His parents were William Edward Hooker, Jr. (b.10/19/1896, d. 11/4/1959) and Eunice Theresa Davis His parents were William Andrew (Billy) Hooker (b. 2/19/1855, d. 8/14/1925) and Salome (Lone) DeShazo (b. 3/8/1864, d. 5/31/1949) The earliest William who married a DeShazo lived in Shelby County, near Oak Mountain and later in Montevallo. My grandfather was considerably older than my grandmother when they married. He died when my father was 15, and my grandmother remarried. My grandfather had one brother and five sisters: Sallie (never married) (b. 9/23/1885, d. 9/19/1977) Floyd (b. 8/26/1890, d. 4/1/1948) Nena Emma Esther Eldice After my parents married, my mother began trying to research my father's side of the family, to be able to pass it along to their children. She began with my great-aunts. They were very vague and offered no explanation. The excuse was "they had been away from Shelby County so long they couldn't remember." My mother surmised there must have been some embarassing event or deep dark secret. Now, as an adult interested in my Hooker heritage, I can't seem to get past the ancestor born in 1855. Census records from 1820-1850 note Hookers in Franklin and Greene Counties. I would appreciate any info available to help me continue further back. Thanks, Ed Hooker Mobile, Alabama [email protected]ityofmobile.org

    3. Hi, Thanks to Roberta who had sent me the generation I needed from my previous post on Rev. Thomas Hooker. It gave me the collabiration I needed with some other information I had found. While in the process of finding out more information, I came across a document on the internet documenting his studies in college at Cambridge. With in the document, it sates that while Rev. Thomas Hooker left for Holland (I think, don't remember off the top of my head) that his "wife Susannah remained behind as a woman-in-waiting at the home of Drake's". Then it also states that with in a two year period they would have lost 2 infant children. My aunt has done some very long extensive research on the European Empire and the royal families of England. "Woman-in-waiting" usually means she would be next in line for Queen or maybe Princess. My question now is who was this Susannah Drake? Carol

    3. Audrey, I don't recognize this Hooker lady, and you didn't say she was from TN like her spouse, but there were several Hooker households in McNairy Co TN in the time frame ca 1850 and earlier. They also lived in northern MS around Corinth, just across the border from McNairy and Hardin. Hope this helps some.
