You want to hear something funny? - I first read that Indiana "Jones" Hooker!!! Funny how one reads things sometimes - that's the need for double/triple checking!! Where did this James live in KY before going to IN? Is the first child's name Elizaz? Is it a female (Eliza?)? Could this James be a son of George R Hooker's?? By the way George's age was transcribed 70 in 1850 and 85 in 1860. I feel the older age is correct - I feel he is older than Esom and John - maybe another generation back - maybe brother or cousin to Samuel (Esom's supposed father)? Do we have an exact date for whne George was first in KY? Is the 1817 deed in KY - it takes a long time for my computer to pull up those sites so I have not had time to look at that deed yet. I saw a listing for a 1819 deed for Geroge R in KY so he was there by 1819 at least. Celeste --- CharlotteAnneMlr@aol.com wrote: > The other James Hooker. I told Joyce this, but not too many people can say, as I can, due to my Italian g-parents on my father's side; I am my own 4th cousin and my 1st cousin are all both my 1st cousins and my 4th cousins. Ny father and his 6 sisters were also 3rd cousins to each other; it used to happen more when people married cousins more, but now days it does not happen so much. In fact I may be cousins of other degrees to my cousins on that side as I am sure my g-parents were related in more than just that one way; everyone in that Italian villiage was inter-related in several ways as it was a small place and few left until the late 1800s - about the time my g-praents married!! In the Hooker line, especially Samuel (b c 1783 in NC) Hooker's family, several of his children and g-children married Hooker cousins - and some married 1st cousins. And if we find that Geoerge Hooker (b 1787 in NC) and his son and g-son were indeed, as the family says, cousins to John Hooker (b c 1797 in VA) then that family line will have a lot of "double cousins." That's one thing that makes all this searching interesting!! Do you think this Betsey was his daughter - seems likely - I have nto gotten to read the list for 2 days - maybe someone has verified that he had a daughter named Elizabeth/Netsey. That is the usual thing for the father to go live with one of his children when older - does the 1860 give any relationship info? Can't remember when that starts on the censuses.
