I have the book, The First Three Generations of Holts in America and did not see a John that was in the book. His line came from Nicholas Holt into Boston. There is another line of a William Holt who had a son John but he was earlier than 1744. This line was mainly in New Haven Connecticut. This book has only 3 generations and names a 4th, starting in the early 1600's so he could be from these lines but later. My line as I said is John Marshall Holt, Methodist minister in Southern Illinois. He comes down from Nicholas. The book was printed by Higginson Book company, Higginsonbooks.com.
