My great great grandmother was Georgia Holt 1883-1899. I research back to Moses Boone 1786 to 1825. My grandmother's birth name was Joseph Ergle Chandler after her father that died of the influenza two week before she was born. So she was given a male name because they didn't know if the baby would be a girl or boy. They always called her Georgia after her mother. Her mother died a month after she was born of the same influenza and her grandmother,Martha Lucinda Boon, raised the baby (my grandmother). Martha dates are 1860-1920. Rueben H. Boone was Martha's father and was born in Marshall County, Tenn. and died in Lake County, Tennessee 1877. Martha's mother was Elizabeth Crunk. I am not sure where your grandmother fits into this but the name Holt and Boone seem to be the connection. I have never run across any information that there were any African American family members. I have many Boone or Boons listed but no Captian. I have a George William Boon 1858 to 1888. There is a Galloway that comes in about 1822. Does any of this connect to what you have.
